i had bought a set of early edelebrock heads that i had needed to get cut down to lower chamber volume a bit. Do i need to get the valley pan rails cut back too? I tried to install new valley pan and it is a tight fit. The center of the pan bows down. All the holes line up good . I had to use a flat head to pry it up to pull it off after the heads were on. Anyone else have this problem? Wonder if i got a bad valley pan. The last one cracked down the seam where the sides bend up to bolt to rail.

Maybe, all depends on how much the block has been cut. You might just need to get the intake face on the heads milled down.

The way to know is to bolt the heads on the block and look to see if you have a three way match where the valley rail, deck and intake face of the head meet. They should all meet at the same point.

The intake holes line up good on the heads and the block was just barely shaved to square it up. I think i know what your talking about when the meet. Im gonna check that first.

I had my heads cut down, can't recall how much, and had to go with an Indy plate because of the same reason. Ended up with a brand new Edelbrock pan I had to pry off because it was too tight.

I also had a previous pan split in the same area, so I'm actually happier with the Indy setup so far.

Has anyone used the Hughes 2 piece pans? On their site they say they will fit the victors. Hard to tell by the instructions but what seals the edge to the heads. Doesnt look like it has rails that bolt to the head. It also says it has ribs to help stiffen but i dont see any in the pictures.

They're more manageable to work with. If you have to, the edge can be easily sanded down to shrink the overall width. Plus, no sheetmetal edge to crack at a seam. Very solid piece.

I would stay away from any brand two piece stamped steel valley pan for any BB Mopar based on bad feed back I got from a good customer who decided to try one from 440 source and then another one from some other vendor who is a sponsor on here now down shruggy
I am using the Edlbrock single piece Victor head bolt on valley pan on my 400 block stroker bracket motor with no leaks or issues up

Thats what I have always used with no leaks. Other than cracking down the seam i have no complaints. It was most likely my fault. But now this new one doesn't fit.
