My column sleeve needs trimmed as Ive read on here before to do a hemi abody swap.. The mock up block touches and will pull the column to trim it back..my question is what is this smaller sleeve on the column? It moves in and out if I pull on it. Heres a pic of it in and a pic pulled out.

I believe that is part of the collapse portion of the steering column but could be entirely mistaken!

What year Dart and what was the original tranny in that car, if you know?
I converted a 1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe from a slant six with a three speed in it to a 440 4 speed, I took the original steering column apart to remove the sleeve and all the parts inside that controlled the linkage to the old 3 speed stick tranny that looks like yours a little bit work

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Thanks guys. Its a 72 Demon, original 340 727 car according to the fender tag. Dont think its a 3 speed column Cab...pretty original car that I know the previous owners to. Even the original owner.
