Hello, so I bought a complete 1970 B Body standard dash frame and it has a rear defrost switch. When I removed the switch I noticed on the other side of the button there was the wording "TOP" on it.

Did Chrysler use the same switch set-up for both rear defrost cars and convertibles? Just flipped the button to the specific application? Same switch? Wiring? pics below

Thanks in advance. beer

YEP - That's the way they are. Chrysler was all about engineering and that's smart engineering.

That not rear defrost.

That is for the power rear window in a station wagon.

68-69 are the same way with a large rocker switch handle put on the same basic switch.

68-72 Oldsmobile is same way. I suspect many other manufacturers did the same thing.

Bummer 67-69 Abodies didn’t have a wagon in US. So no cars to scab those from.

Thanks for all of the replies thus far. So it looks like it might be a 3 in 1 switch.

1. Rear Defrost
2. Top
3. Rear PW for wagons

So "R. WIND." meant rear window either for defrost on a non wagon car or for power window on a station wagon car.

What if you wanted rear defrost for a rear power window on a station wagon lol? JK

beer

A station wagon rear window switch is momentary switch. When you let go of it, it goes back center to the off position. One direction is up the other is down. Just like a door power window switch. Power top switches are the same.

All the defogger switches I have/had 71-74 B-body, 67-up A-body and E-body have three positions: off, low, high. And they click and stay in each position.

I think the 70 defogger switch shown just uses the lever and case from a power top and rear station wagon window. Not the switch internals itself.

Craig, Barry, VegasCharger: do your defogger switches return to the center off position when you let go of them? Or do they have click to hold them in each position?

The knob/button is the same, the switch is definitely not the same. The size of the wire is smaller on the defog switch compared to the power top switch. The wagon rear window and p-top switches may be the same,I'm not sure.
