Anybody deal with either of these companies before or have seen their stuff. Showcars has a link for them: http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/index.html
What I have is a 62 Savoy and putting the blower on and don't really want to cut the original hood. Not that it cherry collector item or anything. I see Showcars has a lot of body panels I can put on my car to get some weight off of it. I was thinking of just leaving the hood off, but my boss warned me of his experience with doing that. He said his 65 S/S Belvedere was squirrely at high speed with it off and said I might want to think about a hood. Mainly a hot street car but you never know? Maybe track one day?

Thanks

Todd

You have been offically warned! Stay away from Showcars! I got boned on a set of glass 68 Charger fenders. Took 6 months of hounding him after I paid cash up front, finally got them and they were junk. Didn't fit and full of holes. He wouldn't take them back, I put them on Ebay with disclaimer and got a fraction of what I paid for them.
In short, he is a lying pile that produces junk.
There..... I said it and feel better too.

Ahhhh ....a 62 Plymouth ... the first piece of fiberglass I ever made was for that car....a hood. Then - I also made bumpers, splash pan, dash and decklid.

But - those molds are no more. LONG story.

BUT I would make another mold ....as I still have the car that I made it for and the hood that I made for it in 1977. I could use that hood to make another mold ....tricky process but it can be done.

You interested in a hood with the front emblem as part of the hood ?

I got a catalog from Fiberglass Plus but never seen any products. I would love to hear some opinions.

Thanks guys for the input. Would not be a happy camper to send good money and receive crap in return. I guess i will get a catalog from Fiberglass Plus and see what they got. I went to GlassTek and they had the hood as a pin on version. Have not heard of them before. They sure do make a lot of parts though. Thanks again guys for the input. DOC don't sweat it. Looking right now at what I want to do. If a hood was made? It would just be basic is all and nothing fancy. I prefer functionality of things with looks second. Thanks for the offer though. I have built a few fiberglass full size planes and love the smell of the resin walking back into the shop the next morning.

I also seen it double posted the topic on me too. I don't know if you want to merge it with this one to save bandwidth on the site?

I'm running Fiberglass Plus hood and bumpers on my '65, I am very pleased w/ them. I also have a trunk lid from them that is very nice, but haven't put it on the car yet.

Don't do business with Showcars. They promise you anything, take 6 or 8 months to send you something, then it's unusable when it arrives. Most of the pics on his site are stolen from other vendors, not stuff he has made.

Been a while since I bought my stuff,Is f/plus down in Texas??I purchased a hood, trunk and bumpers.Got the race stuff that is kinda flimsey.Had to reinforce the nose of the hood cause it was bending upwards at 45 MPH.If I did it again,, I would get the street/show stuff and keep a hood hinge.

I agree showcars took a while to deliver but I now have a good 70 cuda shell in my hands! No one else seems to make em and the one I bought is spot on!It was however about 4 months late!Youve really gotta hassle them to get it shipped! If VFN made a shell I would've gone with that!VFN's work/customer service is bang on!

62 ... now THAT sounds like some words from a famous movie !

No ...I plan on making that mold whether someone wants a hood or not. That part is what started me off in the glass biz in the early 70's.

To the other guys that posted ..... to the flimsy parts .... there is no excuse for that. Proper bracing in the part should be a given. I have used in some instances conduit ..... and even alum and mag tubing or channel.

My shell has foam pipe insulation molded into it for strength. The foam soaks up the excess resin and dries stiff as anything! The other old hot rodders trick is rope!

Your right. Didn't even think about it. Just said it. BUT it is true though. Loved the smell of it the next morning.

I also bought my 62 hood, and bumper from fiber plus in texas, and had no problems at all. the fit was good and the hood had no flexing. are they still around?

No auctioned off all their stuff a year or so ago.

I bought a few parts from them down here before they closed up.
It was nice not having to pay for the freight.
I really liked their product.

Glasstek is located in Plainfield IL and makes very nice quality parts. I have several pieces from them, and even had them make a bolt-on 70RR deck lid since I could only find pin-on styles elsewhere.

VFN Fiberglass is another good company in the area with Mopar parts, but I do not know if they have 62 parts.

I have had poor parts from Unlimited and from Showcars.
