looking at a used one, 85,000 miles, it's an auto 2wd. was used for a local sign company and doesn't appear to have ever been off pavement. Are there any issues I should be worried about? I've been reading about these 5.7L Hemis in other cars being recalled for a timing chain but they didn't do it for the Ram? Thanks for any help!

I am hearing that some are having camshaft / lifter issues. I have sold a couple of reman engines in the last couple of months and also priced out / sold a couple of cam and lifter sets. I think it's a gamble on these, some are survivors and some are not.

Pretty solid engine, seems to be the roller lifters quit rolling and wipe out the cam, we have been upgrading them to SRT 6.4 cams and customers are very happy.

I have one I bought used 1.5 years ago. Got a noise that 2 different dealers can't figure out. (One tells me there is no noise) seems to be something with the torque converter clutch. Growls when under load until clutch disengages & then no noise.
Had right side exhaust manifold & studs replaced. Pinion bearing. Right front axle. (4x4) water pump replaced. Replaced fan clutch & serp belt 1st day I owned it. Check engine light came on but don't recall the issue. Software update too. Bought it with 50k. Has 68k now

I have a '12 that I bought used. Several members of my family have borrowed it from time to time and we all agree that it is the quietest and smoothest truck we have ever drove. So far, we are very happy with it.

But the gas mileage sux.

Master, again and still

I have a 2011 Ram crew cab 4X4 w/the hemi. No issues so far. Been very dependable, It was a "demo" that the dealership owner was driving. I have heard that there are some issues with lifters not rolling and wiping the cam lobes. So far, I haven't experienced that yet. Mine has the factory dual rear exhaust, which for some reason is much better sounding than other Rams with the same setup.

My 2011 was diagnosed as "The HEMI Tick". I am sure this is what it is - ticks loudest when cold. Still runs great, but it's annoying.

Make sure the pinion nut recall is done!!
