I believe I know the answer but want to be sure as I can see that several I consider to be highly knowledgable have provided different views on the topic over the years.

1st - We're talking about the splash shield, often called a starter shield but believed to be a transmission cooler line shield, located on the LH side of an E-body.

If I understand things correctly, as this pertains to AAR's and T/A's
1) these were on Auto cars only (no 4-speeds)
2) auto cars with STD steering received plastic shields
3) auto cars with fast ratio steering received metal shields

Looking for confirmation as the clips I've posted have some conflicting information. I'm not trying to call anyone out, no disrespect to MOPARTS or E-Bodies since snips are from both, I posted on MOPART's because more snips came from that site.

Thanks for the guidance.

Thanks Barry, assuming this is a survivor, it supports what I believe to be true for item 3) auto cars with fast ratio steering received metal shields.

I also believe item 1) these were on Auto cars only (no 4-speeds), is pretty well uncontested.

What remains open for comment/debate is item 2) auto cars with STD steering received plastic shields.

Thanks

Better yet, 340+6 4-speed cars don’t get this shield at all, doesn’t matter what steering system is installed.

Mind if I borrow that picture?
