Hello all,

I am installing TF270 heads on my RB and want to know about the Trick Flow Valley pan installation.
Do I have to have one of the heads removed to install the Valley pan? I have a 2 piece Hughes valley pan and don't like the very large gaps under the heads. The Hughes pan worked very well with my Stealth heads and I never even gave it a second thought. Well I bolted the TF270 heads on and now I have a gap. The gap is so big the I am not sure RTV is going to do any good. So if I get the TF valley pan do I have to remove one head to install it and do they fit tight enough that the large gap disappears?

Thanks,

Digger73 (Mike)

not the full answer .
I have the TF pan on my Source heads and use Andy's batwings seals tight as .
The TF pan is quite thick and I believe it will sit under the TF270 raised port , should only need a bead of sealant .
I would try sliding it in from the front if your heads are on

I haven't had the TF pan in my hands, but if it's the same as the Indy cover...... You can probably get it installed okay the first time without removing a head by sliding it in from one end under the heads.

The heads have an extended intake flange which overhangs the cover.

On my Indy headed motor I cut strips of gasket paper with rtv and it sealed up good

Thanks all for the answers/suggestions.
I just got the heads installed along with the headers and was trying to avoid having to redo what I just did. I was hoping that someone had already tried the slip it in from the front idea before me. I am just not very confident in the 1/4" gap being able to seal with RTV.
I do have some gasket material that I might try the strip and RTV idea.

Thanks again,

The valley plate goes on before the heads. You need to seal the valley plate to the block and then put the RTV bead on the edge of the valley plate to seal to the bottom of the head.

If you try it let it sit B4 putting the heads on or it will push all the rtv out just a friendly reminder
