I distinctly recall my car having a splash shield there behind the K frame on the passenger side. It crumbled to pieces the last time I worked on my suspension a decade and a half ago, probably due to heat from the header tube being so close. The frame rails have holes for the mounting screws, so I know I am not imagining it, but I can't find a reproduction anywhere.

Also can't find a picture of one anywhere. Am I loosing my mind or just my memory?

Correct, and only automatic transmission equipped cars only were equipped with the driver's side rear shield
