Thank you sir, did some research and found some pictures. I see it uses perforated metal under the foam filter media but didn't see how the foam is held on. Anyone using one of these UNI filters?

I see by looking at the pictures more closely that the foam filter is sandwiched between the perforated sheets. Seems that the holes are not very big and would restrict air.

Elvis had one on Barney at one time. He claimed it worked great.

The reason I was looking for that type of filter is my fiberglass chevy type cowl hood has a brace across the back of the cowl and hits the standard 14" air cleaner. I figured if I mounted the uni with the wedge towards the windshield the brace would clear.

I used a K&N velocity style assembly inside my scoop with an isolation pan. Didn't oil it. Didn't hurt performance. Might have helped actually.

I have ran a Uni for years. Would I run one on a street car for 30,000 miles? No, but it is the best option for a race car if you want no ET loss and some sort of filtering capability that is better than a piece of screen. Every paper element filter I ever tried slowed the car down.

I know my cylinder walls were noticeable better on the winter freshen after we put the filter on it. Just a lot of dusty pits, rocks and trash thrown behind the water box - it just makes sense.

I have no problem with K&N filters , I have one on my 67 barracuda and my 04 dodge since new. As I stated above the round filter won't fit with the engine set back and the hood brace. I want to run a filter, always have on all my race cars. So does K&N make filter that similar to the UNI wedge type ? Or how close can the filter media be to the top of the 4500 Dominator carb with one of their flat rectangle drop in type filters. I can make a box to fit to in.
