SPAL makes a nice product. I'm sure there are others.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I bought a derale for my car. Made night and day difference over cheap parts store fan that was on the car when I bought it. Spal and derale both good fans. I found the better fans that have good motors pull 20+ amps. If they aren't pulling that many amps and have good CFM ratings, run. They won't cut the mustard

If I had the money I would run some delta pag fans, they look very trick.
Since I don't I run a set of dual fans from a dodge intrepid. They have a high and a low speed and have worked well even though my radiator is a little undersized.

FWIW, I bought some 13" Be-Cools fans when Summit was running a sale. They are SPAL fans with the mounting strap kit.
I had a Champion 4-core radiator (4 x 0.63" tubes, core 2.75" deep.) The thickness of the radiator made it difficult for clearance to the water pump. Edited: tank width per spec sheet is 3.2" wide.
I changed to a Griffin (2 x 1.25", 2.68" deep core, tanks are about same width as core) exact fit radiator (about 1/2" more water pump to radiator clearance), and I used two 13" Be-cool (SPAL) fans (2" deep, 1200-1250 cfm each) on 26" radiator in '69 Coronet with 440 engine.

I wonder if I can adapt that to my radiator shroud?? sure save some money. I need 2800 to 3000 cfm for the 4 core radiator.
Not putting car on street at this time but, who know later,,,,, RustyM my two cents would be build the tool for what you want to do now. Weight on the nose of a 10sec bracket car is evil and just makes it harder to get the car to work.

I had an HHR fan on mine, but recently switched it out. I am using a dual fan setup from a Ford Contour. Works really well. I like it a lot better than my HHR fan
