I'm going to monitor drive shaft RPM using the MSD Grid. Trouble is I don't appear to have any room to fit an 8 magnet collar on the pinion. I'm running a Dana 60 and there appears to be a metal dust plate there, and anyway, it's way to thin @ .200".
Has any used the slip yoke instead? I know it's gonna move but how far?
TIA up

.200" is almost 1/4" How is that too thin?

Have you seen the thread about using the park ring in the transmission as a wheel? Absolutely fabulous idea from “dizuster”.
Much easier to run wiring to, and a higher tooth count for low speed accuracy.

I made one. Not for dana, but it fits, without that dust plate.
Next time I would put it in transmission.
Park gear is perfect for that and cheap to do, sensor costs almost nothing.

I went with the Strange pinion yoke which is designed for the collar. You can always fab your own solution but since I was starting from scratch I just purchased the complete solution.

Well I checked today to see how far the slip yoke would come out with the suspension at full droop. It barely moves, .040" max. Car has a lotta rise on it from launch but it looks like it won't make a difference. I'm guessing that it moves inwards more if the car were to go over bumps. Of course this now presents another problem, who makes a 1 11/16" 8 magnet collar ? confused
