I am building a Daytona racecar,that I want to use on the track and street. The car has a Loughlin stock car chassis in it. I have been trying to come up with a way to try to make the car user friendly on the street and track. The car sits too low now with the coil springs to really drive it on the street. I was thinking about an air bag conversion,so I would be able to adjust the ride height for both street and track use. I could always remove the air ride kit and reinstall the coil springs for serious track use. Does anybody offer a good all aroung kit for replacing coil springs. I will need to gain about 4 inches of ride height to operate the car on the street. Am I crazy thinking air bags may be the way to go,or should I just go with taller tires and coil springs for street use? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Pete

You probably need to contact someone like Ridetech about your situation since you are dealing with non oe based stuff. Plan on some back and forth with them on info like lengths, weights, mounts etc.

Thanks,I was just looking at Ridetechs website. They say that they have expert techs available to talk directly to you if needed. That may be the direction I need to go for this.

One advantage of the air system would be if you are getting old and creaky, you can raise/lower it to make it easier to get in and out of. Don't know about you but I'm not as limber as I used to be.

I would suggest contacting Laughlin to get their spring dimensional spec that are built into the chassis such as stock style 5.5" or coil over style 2.5" as well as the preferred height; (864) 963-6022. With that info, then a call to Ridetech to see what products are compatible with the physical layout of your chassis.
I wouldn't be concerned with using a bag set up on a streetable track day car. The Ridetech systems are pretty advanced now and will allow not only just ride height adjustments but can be dialed in with various spring rates from the driver's seat while underway. Thanks very much for the info, that is the way to go. The only other concern I have is heat from the brakes near the air bags. I may have to fabricate shields and brake cooling ducts for them.
