Getting my enclosed trailer ready for several hauls in the next few months. Upon inspection of the body Ive noticed the seal along the end cap is starting to lift where it mates with the sheet metal top. Given it gets quite hot during the summers here in Phoenix I’m sure the sealing overall is lifting. The trailer is almost 12 years old. Anyone have any suggestions on re-sealing the seams on my trailer?

Eternabond tape. It is a lifesaver in the trailer community. If buying on eBay, make sure you get the real stuff not a knockoff. Not cheap, but it is amazing. Comes in many colors.

Or if your seams are really beat, dicor lap sealant

But if you have any silicone sealer on there that will mess up the dicor, as it won't stick. Car trailers seem to use silicone where travel trailers use dicor type EPDM sealer.

Either way, power wash the surface to get all dirt off and hit it with acetone just prior to applying.

I work in the heavy duty industry and all we use on our trailer repairs is sikaflex 221G or 221W if you prefer white over grey. It's a polyurethane adhesive/sealant. Also when we replace roofs on trailers, this is the same product the trailer manufacturer sends us with the replacement 53' roof.

Thought I would update this thread. I bought a roll of Eternabond from a building supply vender. Thought I would experiment. What I did was focus on the seam at the roof and front end cap. I cleaned off all the old saelent. It was pretty much dried up. The roll came in a 60 foot length. It was 6” wide.

Over all it went on pretty easy. Rolled out from under the protective plastic film and adhered to the metal. I had to overlap several place in that the width didnt adequately cover the seam. I used a roller from a Dynamat kit to roll out the material.

Given I live here in sunny Phoenix it will be interesting to see how it holds up this summer. I should add that the face of the tape is white so it should be good at reflecting the sunlight.
