On a 71 & 72 Roadrunner, Does the front valance need to come off to remove the front bumper? Also does the grill need to be removed or can the bumper and grill come out as an assembly? Thanks

i USED to own a 72 roadrunner.
removing the front valance will make your life easier when removing the bumper. this is how i did it when i owned the car.
i don't remember exactly but you probably could remove it with the valance still installed. you will need monkey arms though.

you will need to remove the headlight doors. there is a bracket from the bumper to the fenders on these cars. there is also a bracket in the center of the bumper to the header paner. if i remember correctly you can remove the bolt holding bracket to the header panel without removing the grill.

No need to remove the valance. Removing the grille makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to try taking it off with the valence on, any other tricks so I don't hurt any of the paint?

RJS, the bumper looks great! Going to send mine out soon. I see you have a "bump" strip on the bottom of the center. Many, if not all, didn't come with it. Mine did as well and I scored a NOS piece for mine.

I have an NOS one and a reproduction made many years ago by Wilson Productions. The repop is nicer than the NOS!

I found one and is AWESOME. I got it from Tony Diagostino(?) (if my spelling is good). Sorry Tony if not. I still have the original. I blasted and powder coated my front bumper brackets

Like an NOS applique, don't think I could get too fired-up about a 47 year-old piece of rubber...
