I know some years they know percentages of color, but not exact production... anyone have any info on 72 cuda/barracudas?

I have a black 72 340 barracuda and after some research I saw it's one of 490 made. However fender tag is lone gone... already cloning into a 70 aar, but still curious to how rare it really is.

What does "some research" mean? Where did this number come from?

I would imagine that is a rare fish. Like you said there, 340 Barracudas are their own breed and of course we know black was not that popular. I can honestly say I have never seen a 72 340 Barracuda and I have a couple 72 Cuda's, so I tend to look at them. You sure you want to clone that really unique automobile?

I should have said 1 of 490 340 barracudas... not sure how many were black.

Other links I found show the same info. Many 340 cudas made, but only 490 were barracudas.

Like I mentioned, for one, fender tag is long gone... car was never restored and easy to prove its original color now. Was triple black with auto on the column.

As you can see it was a pretty rusty car to start with. Also pretty well stripped. I paid under 1k for it... always wanted to do a black aar clone. I figured it was the perfect start. Kind of late to turn back now though:

A board member/friend asked me about it recently, being a 340 barracuda, so that's why I looked into it more.
