I'm looking at Coil-Over conversions for a Street-Strip '69 B-body that I'm hoping to run in Drag Week, as well as opinions on Engine Plates.

Finally getting to a point that I can get back to the car hobby. The car is a Pro-Street '69 Charger and I'm about to install a 604 Nitrous Hemi.

I'm considering RMS AlterKtion and have read the reviews on this sight.

If I go with RMS; what track width do I want? I need to buy wheels so I'm open to all options. They list 2 versions of brakes with +1/8 or -1/2 track width.

Any other options that I should consider? HemiDenni, PST, etc... AlterKtion appears to be the most complete.

As far as Engine Plates, I'm considering Mancini and Magnumforce. I already have the low mount Mancini alternator. Any pros-cons, etc... with either or other options? Magnumforce offers a poly type mount, which was really the only reason I was considering it.

Thanks!

Call Carl too

http://gerstsuspensions.com/products/front-suspension/

I put a Alterkation under my Valiant , although I don't have anything particular to complain about , he didn't quite listen to my needs exactly

He nodded his head, said yes but, when it came, it was his way, anyway.

I just ordered one from Carl, it should be here today ,

He on the other hand, spent time with me on what I wanted answered the questions I asked and we worked it out .

and, after everything , in my case I think it was very close to $1000.00 less

last but, not least I also talked to Hemi Denny , I think he also makes a good product

I have the RMS in my Challenger And home made front & mid plates from plate stock alum. We made the custom tubular mounts that tie into the side of the frame rail & up into the snout bars.

We just finished install of the Gerst Tubular unit- very pleased.
Great guy as well- even returned calls on Saturday !
As stated above, takes the time to know your need, great support after the sale, quick delivery.
excellent product- really.

Call Carl- he should certainly be on everyones list imho.
Hemi Denny is also good.

We will be putting the Gerst in two more Mopars this spring/summer.

I fixed the pics in my first post. Ever since Photobucket changed, posting images is a pain.

Anyway, I'll call Carl. I hadn't seen his product before this post. Thanks!

Back to the engine plate. Should I use one? The engine mounts on the Gerst unit look like they would work. I just assumed that I'd have to go the plate route to make room for the oil lines and headers.

6PKRTSE, Love your car and have been following your post like many for years. Will tying the plate into the front kickers accomplish the same chassis stiffening that Monte Smith always talked about with the mid plate?

Thanks again!

Motor plates are a fine idea, if you use a mid plate, remember to buy the proper converter or it will not work right .

If you tell Carl you are mounting with plates, his front is cheaper and he eliminates the motor mounts on his front

That’s what we did on this build: Andy’s motor plate , Gerst without mounts ,
Cleans up engine bay , more room, lighter car in front , less stress on block etc.

Make sure to add front bars to strengthen the frame.
Mopars were never designed to have all the suspension weight on the front

I agree with what everyone else is said about getting the suspension from Gerst. Carl has been great to deal with. We ran into a few small little hiccups on the setup I ordered which was due to some changes by a few of the vendors he uses. Nothing that was a big deal and Carl was able to give me some direction to work around it very easily. The setup went in very well, was extremely well-made and I'm very pleased. Carl always answers the phone and if for some reason he doesn't it was never more than about a half hour till I got a call back. I cannot tell you how much time he spend on the phone with me when I was contemplating ordering the setup and afterwards but I know it amounts to probably several hours of conversation. Very very nice guy to deal with.

Ok

I have the alterkation on my 69 coronet and made the front plate from 3/8" stock. I also made the brackets for the upper control arms from thicker stock than what came with the kit. I like the beef.

Yes - please post updates as you move along. I'm considering a Gerst coilover K-Frame swap for my E-body and would like to hear about your B-body experience and any tips or tricks that you learn along the way.

When it comes to motor plates I always make
my own.. I use a 3/8 plate alum for the front...
I also use a mid plate on most builds to help
make the car more rigid.. I use .090 steel on
those.. then a stock conv fits without having a
custom conv built
wave
