Far enough that you can install the roll pin. I had to use a metal punch thru the roll pin hole and wiggle the coupler down enough to install the roll pin. I just looked at mine and the end of the bottom spline is even with the end of the coupler. By the way, which steering box did you end up getting?

Here is what my cuda looks like, you can still see the splines, about 1/4" of them.

and the shaft should be set so the H blacks are midway into the coupler

BTW whats the best way to crimp down the cover on the steering coupler? PITA! 69 Charger P/S.
