How far down should the steering coupler fit over the steering box output shaft? Should the coupler slip all the way down until it bottoms out and butts up with the steering box? Anybody have a pic of just how far?
I am working on my 70 Charger RT.

Far enough that you can install the roll pin. I had to use a metal punch thru the roll pin hole and wiggle the coupler down enough to install the roll pin. I just looked at mine and the end of the bottom spline is even with the end of the coupler. By the way, which steering box did you end up getting?

Good idea about wiggling the coupler using the roll pin hole.

I purchased the Firm Feel Stage 3 box...did you get the Stage 3 also?
If you have already installed yours how do you like it?

I also got the stage 3. I installed it a couple of weeks ago but have not had time to drive it yet. Hopefully tomorrow or next week. You might have to adjust the toe in alittle bit. My steering wheel was off a tad bit after installing the box. I had to adjust the toe in to center my steering wheel. When I drove my buddies hemi gtx with stage 3 I liked it.

Here is what my cuda looks like, you can still see the splines, about 1/4" of them.

and the shaft should be set so the H blacks are midway into the coupler

Yep... spec is 13/16" from the reference hole in the steering shaft to the top of the coupler body.
