What is the part number for the end of crank shaft roller bearing that replaces the bronze pilot bushing on a 4 speed car? These were the hot ticket when the crank wasn't drilled out completely or bored to the right dimension for the bushing.

Not only is it the hot ticket, it's an upgrade. Bearing > bushing.


Also check the depth of the hole.

From what I heard, not been there, don't idle a lot with clutch pushed in. The Needle bearings tend to wear a groove in the input shaft because it's softer than the bearings. I'm going to use one in mine even with that in mind.

Maybe not all input shafts are the same, shaft alignment, lubrication etc but I just took apart a 93 Ford with 205,000kms. Zero wear on the input shaft.

I'm clear on the input shaft length exposure and in fact am using this bearing so I can use an 833 which already had the shaft cut down. For a while there you could pick them up cheaper if the shaft was cut.

Had purchased a bearing already, but then my brother needed one so I gave him mine. He hadn't saved the box for the part number and my filing system failed me. Come to think of it he never paid me for the bearing......

Used em in both my cars since the pilot hole in my 440 was too small in diameter for the bushing and the pilot hole in the 400 in my Newport was nonexistent.
The local Advance had em on stock.

that's what brothers are for. mine's the same way. when he was growing up, lots of my "stuff" disappeared only to surface on his car[s]. he was a constant visitor to my junkyard back in the day, and was always "borrowing" stuff. one day, he and a couple of his buddies was at the yard "playing" and somehow managed to get one of the yard trucks stuck in the boardering woods. sorta "forgot" to tell me, and it took a couple of days to find it. [dadgummed kids.....]

Anyone know if there a ball/cage style sealed bearing available for this application??

just got the Timken FC69907 from rock auto and it is the same roller type as the National seen in the picture in the previous post. That was a disappointment.
Is there a sealed ball bearing available??

Supercuda, Have you bought one of these or seen one in person? Has anyone seen a sealed ball bearing pilot bearing? Did they send me the wrong one? or was I given the wrong part number? or just bad information?

I've never seen a ball bearing unit that will fit the crank flange. These needle bearing units came stock on Dakotas and worked very well. Just wondering why you feel the need ball bearings.

Theory would suggest your not using the surface of the input shaft as the bearing surface for the needle rollers vs a sealed bearing where the inner race and input shaft are not spinning against each other but rather the cheap easy to replace sacrificial bearing itself is taking all the abuse and not the tip of the input shaft.

i have seen a couple of the input needle bearing that failed/worn out and they really chewed up the tip of the input shaft,mopar did have a similar type that is a brass bushing,dont know if its still available or not

My input shaft has some pitting on the bushing surface so it would be nice to use a sealed roller bearing, If not available, I think I'd be better off with a bushing for my second choice with the pitted input shaft.
