My first car was an F8 1970 Cuda 340 with elastomerics F&R. I bought it in 1976 from the original owner - an accountant who worked for Chrysler. I believe the car was an early one as he ordered it as soon as the sales banks were open.

Also, love the pic of the black Hemicuda convert. I saw that car before it was restored back in the mid 80's when it was owned by the attorney in AZ. Joe Savino & his crew restored & painted it. Anyone know who owns it now? (the attorney had quite an impressive collection of numerous different brand musclecars, including a red swiss cheese 421 Super Duty Catalina, a 1970 LS6 Chevelle convertible with super low miles, a yellow 1970 Hemicuda convert., a '65 Chevelle Z16 396, etc.)

The sheet you posted pertains to the addition of other colors being available on racing mirrors, not the rubber bumpers. The nine available colors on your revision for bumpers are the same 9 that were originally available at the start of the 70 model year. Black rubber bumpers were available from day one. I now have original fender information of an October built black front rubber bumper Barracuda Grand Coupe.

Since at least 11-69 Notice the word least? I did not say when they were first available, I just referenced the earliest document I had on the subject.

I just so happen to see this video the other day before this post was started!!!! Triple black, PLUS black front bumper, 440-6, 4 speed, shaker car!!! To bad owner wouldn't open the hood, would have been nice to see the fender tag. He doesn't mention that 440-6 was verified by the dash vin# ??????? Also...bumper faded?? Looks to me that the black paint has worn away leaving the grey plastic base material.

I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

One of the Blakes (AZ.) used a '70 Hemicuda HT as a daily driver & it was a black car with elastomerics F&R. Saw it in the parking lot at a grocery store back in the mid-80's. Windows rolled down too. For a second I thought I had time traveled back to 1975!

Great info That is great info. I bought a 70 cuda 383 4 speed that had front and rear rubber bumpers on an FJ5 car. Everyone told me you couldn't get it that way. I knew they were original to the car.

I had a 70 Gran Coupe FJ5 optioned with just the front rubber bumper, all original, 383-4 spd car also, with the black/white houndstooth/red stripe interior, boy was it any ugly combo with that interior... I took a Lemon Twist front off of a Cuda in a junkyard in the late 80's in Illinois, traded it to Scott Sieveking for an NOS Dart windshield gasket at the 1989 Monster Mopar show.

I worked at a Chicago (Bensenville) Chrysler parts depot on Rt. 83 (Busse Rd.) back in 1978 for about a month - filling in for people on vacations. One day I went up to the front offices & met with a parts specifier & had him look up some parts for availability. There were NO Cuda elastomeric bumpers at any of the parts depots. He said they were last available in 1974, then went NS1. There were a handful of Cuda shaker hoods - like 6 of them as I recall. He said they were list priced at $300.00 each as I recall. We had a bunch of 1971 Cuda gilled fenders at our facility - they were all in black primer. There was a 1971-2 Charger Ramcharger hood sitting out near an aisle & it had some minor damage to it from forklifts driving by & rubbing against it. That one probably got scrapped. Even though this was a long time ago, my mind remembers details like this. I have forgotten 80% of the weddings I've been to though! (I guess I remember the things that I'm interested in............)

This is the auto #207654. But SunroofCuda, the car you are thinking about is the other black auto, #159521, owned by Phil Silva who bought it from the AZ attorney almost 20 years ago now. - Wade

Do you know if he still has the yellow one, or for that matter if he still has any of these great cars? As far as the parts depot, yes it was the building on the W. side of Busse Rd. with the gold glass offices in front. For me, it was SO cool to work there! I owned 2 cars when I lived out there: a 70 Cuda 340 with F/R elastomerics, & a '73 Roadrunner. So I was very interested in all the performance stuff I'd see while pulling parts. I remember bins with the "jewelry" in them - emblems. They were not very well grouped together & there were thousands of bins with anything from "Cuda 340" emblems to Ramcharger badges. I'd see these every day while pulling dealer orders - I wanted to collect them all. Never saw a shaker scoop, rear window louvers, go-wings, or any of those. There was a Dart snorkel scoop laying on the floor out of it's tattered box - it was all dusty & dirty - looked like people had been tripping over it for several years. It was a neat place to work at, then I got sick with meningitis & missed a few days so they let me go.

Do you know if he still has the yellow one, or for that matter if he still has any of these great cars? The only FY1 ‘70 Hemicuda ‘verts are the two Canadian ones, and I’m not aware that the attorney ever owned either. Maybe, but just not that I’m aware of. Today, the Brothers own the FY1 4spd, and Peter Klutt of Legendary Motorcars owns the auto. For Phil to buy the TX9 car from the attorney took a lot of negotiating, including that Phil also had to buy a Z11 lightweight Impala as part of a package deal in order to get the ‘Cuda. This would of have been around ‘99/2000, and I believe the attorney was in process of selling off his entire collection at that time. - Wade

There was a black Hemi Cuda clone with a red hockey stick on the west coast that started life as an AAR Cuda, same car? Last time I saw it, it was at a used car dealership in Oregon about 20-25 years ago. I saw that car several time at the Sunbust Mopar show in Graham Washington. It came around back in about 2003 (?) till about 2011 (?). Owned by an older guy from Oregon. He said he had the original 340-6 In The corner of his garage and. That it came with car when he bought it. (I have my doubts but who knows) The car pictured is NOT the same car based on the front fender antenna. The car you and I are recollecting DEFINATELY had the rear quarter mount antenna. Hasn't been around for awhile that I have seen, maybe he sold it, maybe he passed on, or maybe he just doesn't venture out as far as he used to. I remember teasing him that Washington license plate would look much better on a black Cuda than Oregon's blue/yellow plate. An older clone creation (I don't think ANYONE would use a solid J code car for a hemi clone these days).
