That is great info.

I bought a 70 cuda 383 4 speed that had front and rear rubber bumpers on an FJ5 car.

Everyone told me you couldn't get it that way. I knew they were original to the car.

What?, FJ5 color keyed bumpers?... I had a 70 Gran Coupe FJ5 optioned with just the front rubber bumper, all original, 383-4 spd car also, with the black/white houndstooth/red stripe interior, boy was it any ugly combo with that interior...

Interesting that they were only sold colored over the counter, never primered that I'm aware of...no part number for primered.
I know, I know grills only came painted as well, but a bumper is pretty easy to paint for a car, no masking, etc...
In the early 80's I bought this NOS rear Cuda bumper in the original shipping plastic from Dale Tuel at a Spring Carlisle show.

I took a Lemon Twist front off of a Cuda in a junkyard in the late 80's in Illinois, traded it to Scott Sieveking for an NOS Dart windshield gasket at the 1989 Monster Mopar show.

I worked at a Chicago (Bensenville) Chrysler parts depot on Rt. 83 (Busse Rd.) back in 1978 for about a month - filling in for people on vacations. One day I went up to the front offices & met with a parts specifier & had him look up some parts for availability. There were NO Cuda elastomeric bumpers at any of the parts depots. He said they were last available in 1974, then went NS1. There were a handful of Cuda shaker hoods - like 6 of them as I recall. He said they were list priced at $300.00 each as I recall. We had a bunch of 1971 Cuda gilled fenders at our facility - they were all in black primer. There was a 1971-2 Charger Ramcharger hood sitting out near an aisle & it had some minor damage to it from forklifts driving by & rubbing against it. That one probably got scrapped. Even though this was a long time ago, my mind remembers details like this. I have forgotten 80% of the weddings I've been to though! (I guess I remember the things that I'm interested in............)

I used to drive by that Mopar depot for years, I was sad when they dook the signage down... frown

Wade - GREAT info - I'm glad you know about this guy (the attorney). Do you know if he still has the yellow one, or for that matter if he still has any of these great cars?

As far as the parts depot, yes it was the building on the W. side of Busse Rd. with the gold glass offices in front. For me, it was SO cool to work there! I owned 2 cars when I lived out there: a 70 Cuda 340 with F/R elastomerics, & a '73 Roadrunner. So I was very interested in all the performance stuff I'd see while pulling parts. I remember bins with the "jewelry" in them - emblems. They were not very well grouped together & there were thousands of bins with anything from "Cuda 340" emblems to Ramcharger badges. I'd see these every day while pulling dealer orders - I wanted to collect them all. Never saw a shaker scoop, rear window louvers, go-wings, or any of those. There was a Dart snorkel scoop laying on the floor out of it's tattered box - it was all dusty & dirty - looked like people had been tripping over it for several years. It was a neat place to work at, then I got sick with meningitis & missed a few days so they let me go.

The only FY1 ‘70 Hemicuda ‘verts are the two Canadian ones, and I’m not aware that the attorney ever owned either. Maybe, but just not that I’m aware of. Today, the Brothers own the FY1 4spd, and Peter Klutt of Legendary Motorcars owns the auto. For Phil to buy the TX9 car from the attorney took a lot of negotiating, including that Phil also had to buy a Z11 lightweight Impala as part of a package deal in order to get the ‘Cuda. This would of have been around ‘99/2000, and I believe the attorney was in process of selling off his entire collection at that time.

Here's a pic I took at a car show in 1983. I remember somebody saying as I was taking this pic that the rear bumper could not be original and was only avaiable in red? The car was a hemi and looked original to me.

There was a black Hemi Cuda clone with a red hockey stick on the west coast that started life as an AAR Cuda, same car? Last time I saw it, it was at a used car dealership in Oregon about 20-25 years ago.

I saw that car several time at the Sunbust Mopar show in Graham Washington. It came around back in about 2003 (?) till about 2011 (?). Owned by an older guy from Oregon.
He said he had the original 340-6 In The corner of his garage and. That it came with car when he bought it. (I have my doubts but who knows)

The car pictured is NOT the same car based on the front fender antenna. The car you and I are recollecting DEFINATELY had the rear quarter mount antenna.

Hasn't been around for awhile that I have seen, maybe he sold it, maybe he passed on, or maybe he just doesn't venture out as far as he used to. I remember teasing him that Washington license plate would look much better on a black Cuda than Oregon's blue/yellow plate.

An older clone creation (I don't think ANYONE would use a solid J code car for a hemi clone these days).

Not all AARs came with radios. Some were installed after the fact & normally with the antenna on the front fender.

I do not remember the antenna, so I'll take your word for it.

The photo is cool to see, it triggered my memory.

Barry--yea I pointed out to a friend that seeing a rear antenna on anything other than a T/A car was strange indeed.

Also strange--I am 95% certain the car had the raisen bran hood--DEFINATELY not the AAR hood, and I sure don't recall a shaker on it--which would kinda make sense on an older cloned car.

The one I saw had a shaker, but I do not recall the red shaker bubble. Custom cars can change over time though.

The one I saw definitely had an AAR VIN on the dash, I was surprised when I saw it.
