If your going to go through all the work, why not go to 1/2" line. That way your ready to fuel that 528 stroker you want to put in someday.
Snap your neck, mega G-force launch, is all I want!

That stroker big block will be going into the chally project later this year. I'm just making the charger a little hotter, that's all I plan for it. Thanks for the info guys, just have to figure out who haas some nice sending units that won't be too pricy, but have nice quality.

5/16" will support up to 500hp with no problems. I did this test with a BB w/ 5/16" line. Ran at the track, went home installed 3/8". Went back the next day and ran almost identical times. (within a few .01) Weather was nearly the same and 60ft was very close. This was good enough for me
I may have to disagree. I built a 383 that was a little over 400 hp estimated. 760 Street Avenger carb, ported heads, bored .03 over, purple shaft cam and 1 5/8" headers. I ran it at the Mopar Nats a few years ago in a '67 Coronet with a 5/16" line and at about 2/3 track it would run out of fuel. When I lifted it would take off. I believe it was sucking the line dry. I sold the car before I changed the lines.

It wasn't from the fuel line being to small.

A lot of factors can contribute your issue.
I run a built 440 with 5/16 line and have no issues on a mechanical pump.

Remember, fuel pressure and fuel volume are two different things. You can put fuel through a line the size of a ball point pen, and it will have pressure up the wazoo but not enough volume.
The car doesn't necessarily have to nose over to indicate insufficient fuel flow. Over the years, we have found that it is often like tires going away....hardly noticeable until it is fixed. Then the car picks up and you say to yourself "Heck, I didn't know the stuff was bad".
I guess what I am saying is that you ought to go to 3/8 or 1/2 line. If you are going to keep the car, play with different combos, eventually you will need to. Now is as good a time as ever.
