My buddy just bought a mint 68 RR 383/4 speed car
90,000 miles, numbers matching. around $14k
Lot's of stuff out there for 1/3 to 1/4 cost.
Just like houses, now is the time to buy.

I was hearing Dan Dye might have another
Cuda forsale at a good deal.

probably why it is still for sale. It is a buyers market for anything, even high end racecars.
I just bought a very high end 6.0 roller for about 1/3 of the build cost including 10clutch T/S trans and 10" nitrous convertor, bottles, racepak, etc.

what I found is the owners of the name brand cars, Bickel, Haas, etc. are less apt to lower the price significantly. Trust me, even the rich have fallen on hard times. The largest home builder in our county just laid off ALL his employees yesterday, was on the cover of todays paper.

here is a sneak peek!

Looks like a '96ish Bickel built Camaro with Koni electric shocks. Looks like the twin to the one I crew on, same blue and "deck surface" in the back.

The "high end" is affected---but not much. When the market dropped so much, a lot of high end people paused for a while---then resumed their spending habits. And they are still spending serious $$$ for serious cars. Most of the high end people get more off their investments than they can spend anyway----so why slow down?

Case in Point:
1. A friend has a large street rod building business(employees 13 people). Their business slowed last November(election shock), but now they are booked out 15 months. Their street rods generally start at $100K+.
2. National record holder drag cars are selling for the same amount as two years ago. Sales may take more time---but the price isn't dropping.
3. New stock car chassis are booked out as long as ever---but used chassis are getting cheap. Front running oval track guys want new chassis, used chassis go to "back markers".

My comments may not be scientific---just my observations.

I think you know by now that I don't care if it's not a Mopar. What is it, Al?

Well while this is not the exact car it would be one of these. Let the bashing begin. I have been having so much fun trying to make the Cuda faster I just want more, and frankly my porky pig Barracuda is not gonna do it. I want a TS Grudge TYPE car...This car with my engine would run 7.50's easily IMO.

Dont get me wrong. There are some very nice 6.0 Mopars for sale I just think they are not priced accordingly. The above Vette is a McAmis car for $45 roller. What appeals to me is the weight The above car weighs 2055lb race ready. Most of these I have inquired about are there or less for the most part.

I am still actively looking for a 6.0 Mopar and frankly that Cuda last year would have been the car but IMO the price was top high. I can find a similarly set up Vette for $20+K less. While there are a few Mopars out there that are more reasonably priced those just dont appeal to me.

Personally, I'm a racer first and a Mopar guy second. I will race anything and respect anything regardless of who designed it way back when.

At just over 2000lbs, (Plus a couple for Al's girlish figure) it won't take much power to put one into the 7's to run T/S competitively. Best of luck with it Al if you choose to go that direction. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun. And if you need a pilot for the cuda, I'd be more than happy to help

Like I said that is not the car I am after, just the same type car. The one I am actually talking to the owner about is a Bickle car. Just put up that pic for comparison sake.

We are also looking for a project for my son. I should have never sold the Valiant but it seemed like a good idea at the time. It would have been perfect for him. Now I need to find something similar. But if possible and I can swing it I am not against buying a car for me and letting him try out the Barracuda, slowed down a bit. Not sure he can make the jump right from a 16 second Honda to an 8 second car.

Eric, That is fugly for one but IMO overpriced. You can buy a similarly equipped brand Xer for less. Heck my buddy in Texas has a 6.00 TT Mustang for $66K T/K that will run 7.0's on a soft tune. Dont think I have not considered something like that either. Like always my issue is finding something I fit in.

Was just curious what you guys thought heard about some of the higher end stuff.

i hear ya al.i love the split window, corvettes.you are correct, the other guys prices are much more reasonable and you can buy a turn key for the price of a mopar roller.
