Any ideas? I have a painless 8 switch panel.with a msd ignition with out a ballast. I wired in a stock starter relay. I hooked a wire on the right lower plug. I think that is the place for the neutral safety? I have a switch on the shifter. one wire is grounded the other to the relay. The car still starts in gear? what am I doing wrong?

First, verify that you have the wire on the ground post of the relay. Second verify that the switch is not shorted out and grounding all the time.

Which post is the ground post? I have it pluged to the bottom left one. the other one(on the right side) went to the old ballast. That one is not pluged to anything

The 2 wires coming from your shifter switch go to
the wire coming off of your starter button then on
to the solenoid.... in other words..... hot going
to your starter button.... out of the other side of
the button to one wire going to the shifter(either wire)
out of the shifter switch to the solenoid.... your
just putting the shifter switch in line on the starter
button

Middle plug terminal on the trans connector is the neutral switch. Simply run that to the N side of the starter solenoid, or if you shifter only has one connection...run it there

This is how mine is wired as well.

Probably the easiest way IMO
