I believe so - c-clips behind the cover! Did it in 1986...

I dont remember if it is C clips or a dead bolt but take off the back cover & you'll see what you need to do.

It's been a few years, but I definitely don't remember having to take off any c-clips when I replaced the bearings on my old one. It was in a '70 Barracuda and I don't remember doing anything but unbolting it at the flange. Like I said though, it has been while so I wouldn't trust my memory.

They don't have c clips but from my experience the axles are usually stuck in there pretty good. Much more than say an 8 3/4. One thing I heard to try is back the 4 flange nuts off about 1/8" and then drive the car around in a circle a few times to pull the axle out some so it's easier to remove later.

My mistake, I guess they dont have clips(or a dead bolt) & yours are just stuck. glad that got straightened out before you took off the cover with all that ensuing mess to deal with Put the drums back on backwards with a few turns of the lug nuts & use the drum as a slide hammer, they'll pop loose

I always use a slide hammer and they pop out in two or three smacks. No clips, the 8 1/4 rear has the clips
