I installed the SSBC A153 front disc brake kit on my '71 Dart GT several years ago. The car has been sporting the 14" X 5 1/2" Rallye wheels (small bolt pattern) since I've owned it. I've been considering swapping to 14" X 5 1/2" steel wheels (small bolt pattern) with the red line dog dish hubcaps.

Does anyone know if the 14" X 5 1/2" STEEL WHEELS (small bolt pattern) will clear the SSBC front disc brakes?

Here's what I received from SSBC when I asked them. Unfortunately, I do not have a 14" X 5 1/2" steel wheel to measure. If I'm reading the diagram correctly, I need 12.84" Diameter of clearance. Can anyone measure a steel wheel for me?

take this for what it's worth. i don't have a small bolt pattern wheel to measure, but i have a couple of SBP centers laying around i was going to mate to 15" hoops some day. they are slightly bigger than 12"OD. i just measured a 14x5 1/2" big bolt [4 1/2"] pattern wheel, and this is what i got. the center measures just a bit over 12"od like the SBP center. back space is 3 3/4". hoop inside diameter is between 13 3/8-13 7/16". these measurements were all taken with a tape measure. so ASSuming the BBP and SBP wheels used the same hoop, and the back spacing on a 5 1/2" wheel was the same between the two, theoretically they should fit, but ??? shruggy don't know if this helps or confuses you, but i tried.

Thanks moparx. I've asked this question on other sites and have learned the 14" X 5 1/2" SBP steel wheel won't fit the SSBC brakes.

If I want to do steelies with red line "dog dish" hubcaps I'll need to move up to 15" wheels up front to clear the SSBC brakes. And, since I just put new 14" tires on my Rallye wheels, I'll be waiting on this move for a little while.

It would surprise me if the hoops on the rallye and plain steel wheels were different. Kelsey-Hayes discs fit will both 5.5" and 4.5" wide 14" small bolt wheels. From what I can tell the SSBC kit is based on the K-H calipers. I would get a wheel and give it a shot.

I'd like to find someone locally that has a 14" X 5 1/2" small bolt pattern steel wheel to try.

Anybody in the Macomb Township (MI) area that would like to volunteer? shruggy
