Well January 20 seems to be the assembly date...But did they skip the "I" year like they do in VIN's? If not does the M make it 1977? If they skip the "I" then my guess is 1976 EAD.
Lc is that Low Compression?

I believe: M = marine 440 = cu.in. L = left hand rotation 1-20 = engine assembly date 1/20/68 (3*23*67 block cast date) D = 1968 model year sideways "0" & little "c" the Marysville, MI engine assembly plant was Chrysler Marine & also built Max Wedge & HEMI passenger car engines (similar top pad font & layout) this 440 was one of a pair, the other being right hand rotation - I'm trying to track that engine down to get a pic of the top pad.

Dan was that the normal EAD pad layout for all marine engines? Didn't Chrysler also make 440 engines for commercial applications and did those engines have a different assembly date pad layout than an automobile engine???
