Well, after about 6 months of collecting parts, $6,000, machine work and 'some assembly required' my new 440 street motor roared to life today. I'm either lucky or gettin' the hang of this cause it fired right off. The weather here actually cooperated today and the sun came out and dried up the roads. Once I got her warmed up I went for a spin (top down of course) and proceeded to "seat the rings" . I think I'm going to like this roller cam. It seems to idle smoother and the power band seems broader. On a couple of shifts I glanced down at the tach and it was pushing 6K as I was reaching for the next gear. Anyway, there were no leaks of any kind and no klunks or strange noises, that has to be good. Thanks to those here who answered several of my posts regarding some questions I had about the build, etc. There's nothing like the sound of spinning tires and the wail of a big block to put a grin on an old mans face!

Congrats Steve, I'm sure I'll see it rolling around here in not too long.

Actually I bought my first Mopar before I owned a Cheby. It was a 1950 Plymouth special deluxe 4dr in 1968. It had 50K miles on it in perfect condition for $125. Let's see now, how old were you back then?

I envy you, I am trying to get my Challenger done so I can try out the roller cam in my motor. I have not driven this car in something like 18 years and it is killing me.
HAHA, I've got you beat. I've had my car for 18 years and I've never had an engine in it until last Friday! It'll be nice to boil the hides and row the gears one of these days. Travis..
Congratulations of getting your beast running!!! But, Ha!, 18 years...that's nothing! I last drove my 1970 in 1983 and just recently got it running during the restoration process. It still has a long way to go, but the drive train is in. I lit the tires in the driveway with my 15 1/2 year old daughter in the passenger seat. She said, "Dad, it sure is loud, and how come it runs so rough? I tried to explain, but she really didn't want to know that much detail...lol. When I was her age, gaining knowledge about this stuff was like the quest for the holy grail.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

What are the specs on the motor??
I'll probably forget something but here goes: 1970 446 (.030) block that has been lined honed with main studs and the decks shaved .020, 440 Source heads with upgraded retainers & locks with double springs, lightly ported and bowl blended by me. Diamond silicon added forged pistons with file fit rings and 440 Source tapered I-Beam rods at zero deck for a static CR of 10.0 to 1. The valve train is all Compcams retro hyd roller with ProMagnum rockers, cam specs are lift .538int/.534ex, dur @ .050 is .224int/.230ex with 110' lobe seperation and a 106' centerline. Exhaust is HP manifolds with 2.5 pipes all the way back. Ignition is a FBO prepped dist with their box, initial timing at 18' with 36' all in by 2400rpm straight mech adv. Induction is factory alum six pack intake with ProMax prepped holleys. The rest of the drive train is a Tremec TKO600 with a Dana 60 3.54 rear. While I'm at it how about some educated guesses on HP and Torque at the flywheel on this combo?

That thing should move out!!I don't have any experience with roller cams but I will guess 475hp 525tq.
For the night shift. Anyone else care to guess the HP $ TQ on the above combo? Thanks.
