Need to have my wood grain 1972 b-body rally dash bezel and dash pass side insert pieces restored. Namely repaint the bezels and insert and put the correct chrome paint on edges. Has anybody used them, if so, how was their work and tuen around time? I've used and am currently again using GCAR Work is excellent. Ron

I had them restore the complete dash on my 71 Charger R/T and was thrilled with the results.

I used them and they are slow as $hit, they told me 8-10 months and 14 months later finally got my stuff back. They are very expensive and I would have expected it to be perfect after waiting so long but it wasn't. Did I call and complain: NO I DIDNT WANT TO WAIT ANOTHER 14 MONTHS.I doubt I will use them again. I have not used Gcar but would give them a whirl. Gcar is about 3-4 months but NOTE: my picture is misleading inthat with GCAR you send in the pieces not the assembly. Ron

Hi Guys, It's not that we are slow. It's that we are a small crew and are VERY busy with work. Please see this previous posting regarding our timeframes: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2353309/1.htmlAnd please Darrell ..if you are un-happy with our award winning work in any way, please call me and I will do whatever I can to make you happy. Thanks Mike

I had Instrument Specialties repaint the dash frame & restore the tach from my 68 Charger two years ago. I removed everything and they repainted the dash frame. Excellent work, great communication and turn around was not bad at all. It depends on how much work you want them to perform. A complete dash rebuild is a lot of work for sure.
Top quality work takes time, a lot of it. There must be a reason they are so busy and their work is in many of the top cars in the country.
P.S. I am not affiliated with Instrument Specialties in any way other than being a very satisfied customer.

I have not had any dash work done by Mike, but I can vouch 1000% for his integrity.
He will always stand behind his work and do whatever is necessary to make a customer happy.
That is a hard to find quality in anyone.
If something took a bit longer to get done, I am positive it was for a very good reason.
Just my 2 cents here..

Got me a NEW Project 1970 GTX 440+6, 4 spd, 4.10 Dana and N96 FE5 (top/bottom) and black bucket interior. Original transmission and Dana - Engine is a service replacement block.
Body has all stamped #s + VIN/TRIM tag and door sticker. Been hunting like all hell to find the Build Sheet.
garage find, only had 41,850 miles on ODO.

The chrome trim around the gauges, and right side panel are a lot more chrome like than what my car has, mine is more silver paint looking. I'm wondering which is correct? I have to agree. In the 80's I bought half a dozen NOS, two without radio opening, more silver paint looking than chrome. Even used ones found today have silver paint

As the chrome faded most just got touched up with silver paint. Here's an nos piece as well as an assembly line picture.

Mine has never been painted, so the chrome can fade to look like silver paint? Absolutely, that's exactly what happens to vacuum metalizing over time.
