I am having a heck of a time locating an example of the correct steel wheels for my 67 R/T convert. Does anyone out there have a picture of one so I at least know what to look for. I have never seen one and have told about ten different conflicting things about them. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have two sets for reference, one set is date coded (spring of 1967). The other set is off of an earlier car and does not have dates (most don't have dates). They are all 14 x 5.5" and all have a small "5" stamped on both sides of the valve stem. These are much harder to find than most people think.

I have about 100 early (big dog dish) rims out being shot blasted....can probably put a couple of date coded sets together.I'm first in line for my own WS27L77 ride though.

That single extra hole you pointed out with the pencil was a new for 67 feature (the vestige of the tapered axle hole) 1966 and earlier wheels had the same hole but also had a similar "extra" hole between each lug hole. Also, they made a 14 x 5.5 wheel in 1965 as well, looks identical to a 66 wheel (with all the extra holes) but the "5" on either side of the valve stem is a much larger font than the 66 & 67 style.

Here's another example of a 67 14 x 5.5 Hemi style wheel.

Now, just when you think you have all you'll need to go shopping.........There are also some INCORRECT but very convincing wheels out there that look ALLOT like 67 Hemi wheels. Here's one of them a guy tried to sell me as one, it's not. The original hub caps don't fit it and the outer rim is a different shape, also the raised areas between the lug holes have a less defined "softer" look.

*BTW, that white wheel posted above looks like one of these!

Did have a 4.5 bolt circle, fit a Mopar, and even had the 5.5 next to the valve stem (different font though).

Scott, When I dug through the 67 parts book I found two numbers for the 5.5" wheels. One listed as deep dish. Is it safe to assume that is the "Hemi" wheel you have? The more I find out the more a nice new set of Magnum 500's look. Even though it is known to have come with hub caps.

Ignore the parts book in this case, it will just add confusion.

The black wheel and the yellow wheels shown above are indeed 100% correct original 67 Hemi wheels.

These same one year only rims came on a few other 67 cars as well (440 GTX's and R/T's, and SOME station wagons for example).

Scott, are you saying that most lack a date code anywhere on the wheel, or just on the face in the raised lug nut area?

NEVER ignore station wagons in a salvage yard, I scored one (that was all that was on the '67 coronet wagon) of these wheels for 5 dollars once.

I have found that dated wheels are dated on the lug nut/wheel center face as well as on the rim next to the valve stem, but not on the inner wheel surface normally hidden being covered by the tire as in other/later wheels, in fact, they are completely unmarked inside, nothing stamped into them at all. These dated wheels have the 5.5 stamped seperately adjacent to the date stampings as opposed to non dated wheels that have the 5 on either side of the valve stem. Often times the wheel centers are stamped at a different time than the outer rim before being welded together so the center could be an earlier stamping date and the rim will be the date the wheel was actually assembled, usually only by a day or so if different.

Undated wheels don't have a recognizable date stamped anywhere on the wheel.

The white rim is off a customers WL21J71 car..low mileage should be original.Maybe more than one vendor for the 67 rim??My 67 Canuk parts book lists 3 different part # 14 x 5.5's for RW.
2530330
2122499
2534702 which is listed as Charger Deep Dish

I got the first load of 100 rims back from the shotblaster yesterday and we epoxy primed them today. If I get some time I'll start sorting tomorrow.Going to have to make a rim rack i guess. The shot blasting does a real nice job...all the stampings are real clear.I think I'll do my entire stock of used steelies over the next month.

That white rim may be the real thing, I couldn't say without a closer look, but it sure APPEARS to be like the blue one I posted.

If the original 67 hub cap won't fit it, it's guilty!

None of those numbers will help you much since none are stamped on the wheels. As far as being more than one vendor or part #, sure, it's possible, but one things certain, they all had a 5.5 stamping, and they were all the same shape and configuration, if you find something otherwise I'll be greatly surprised, I've been chasing these wheels for over 20 years, I've seen a large number of originals and they simply don't vary much.

mistake ! I just looked at the parts book again and the 2530330 is the B Body 14 x 5 rim...which I think is wheel code # 13 on the broadcast sheet.
Wheel # 2534702...the Charger deepdish is Wheel # 16 on the broadcast...in my small selection of bc sheets not used on any B Body except Chargers. But it is used on a ton (or two )of 67 C bodies !

That would leave wheel # 2122499 as the RW 14 x 5.5 rim.Kinda weird to have that early of a part # used don't ya think ?

Well first of all, I don't trust parts books because they often vary from actual production parts due to changes after thier printing or plain old mistakes.

As far as the early part#, it probably stems from the wheels origins, it evolved over the years, used way back into the 50's on some cars but with different widths and hole patterns in the center.

Any chance the 5.5" deep dish Charger & c-body wheel is the blue one Scott pictured? Able to take the deep dish Charger wheel cover but not a "dog dish" and also used on c-bodies with full wheel covers??
