Basically it is just like every 1/8th mile bracket race across the country. Box, and No box run separate until the final, and a run off for the money. I have no idea how that is going to draw spectators. Don 't get me wrong, I love 1/8th mile bracket racing locally, but I wouldn't travel to do it.

All the guys that jumped the NHRA ship and went to IHRA for 10.90, 9.90, 8.90, stock, super stock, top sportsmen, and a few others are going to be PISSED. 2 day races are nice and easier on the budget but a 5000.00 payout for a combo class isn't going to be a big drawl if the entry fees are to high. Some guys do like to win a trophy for the mantle so you will always get those guys.

John...Cedar Falls has a memorial race every fall. 2 grand on Sunday and 5 grand for Saturday. The place is usually a good turnout. The entry fees aren't cheap but it is a blast! I have even gone a few rounds before I got sick. It is also a box vs. no box final. wave

I hear ya but us east coast guys are spoiled. We got everything from the million to Keystones three 10,000.00 races. I print off a schedule every winter of east coast races and it would have you shaking your head at races we have to pick from between March and the end of November. With dragway 42 in Ohio opening up this s year we here will be some more added to the list. Loose Rocker Production teamed with Micheal Beard and his partner have several nice races and make up the schedule

I am glad to hear you have that many tracks to choose from. I never did mind the 1/8th mile stuff. The piperacks have a tougher time judging the door car at the stripe. I sure miss racing. The guys that say they would let their cars sit before running 1/8th mile should be in my position!

I used to hate 1/8 mile but I got over it. A dragster went off the end of the track this year at Keystone so box class switched to 1/8 mile. I race Quaker City in Ohio and top class there runs 1/8 mile. All the big money races run 1/8 mile and I just read yesterday that Norwalk is going to 1/8 mile for both box and no box class. When I want to go for a 1/4 mile new best I will hit a test n tune.

In a perfect world, the Baders buy NHRA. We did a lot of IHRA races during the time BB ran it. These days it's like a fish out of water. Flopping around and getting nowhere.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I'm not the biggest advocate of 1/8 mile, but I still like the idea. I personally feel that a compromise of 1,000 ft race would be best, but what do I know? I've been out of it so long, and so many tracks have closed down, I appreciate any kind of race that I can get involved with for this coming season.

I think it comes down to every week racers for the most part like 1/8 racing.
Others that get out when they can, and dont chase points prefer 1/4 mile
These days i am decidely in the second camp. I think the majority of guys are.
So if you ask every week racers, i am not surprised more like 1/8
If you asked every entrant at Monster Mopar, i bet the large majority would say 1/4
As much as i love going to Norwalk for Monster Mopar, were it to turn into 1/8 racing, i wouldnt take the time off frankly my busy schedule to attend. Hopefully it stays the way it is.
When i CAN get out, i dont want to go to all the trouble to race half track
