I have a pile of mint condition jacks, spacesaver wheels/tires, hooks, spacers, wheel wrenches and frame-tiedowns out of all my E-bodies thrown in the scrap pile.
All that sh1t is good for is uglying up the trunk, taking up space and slowing the car down.
Cell phone and roadside assistance. If it's bad enough I'll get someone to bring out my car hauler and we'll do it ourselves.

Those children are my brother & myself.
Dad taught us how to do things. today they are taught to look on the phone at youtube then they will decide it is too much work and call the tow truck.

Outside of not physically capable of changing a tire, I would NEVER call someone out to do my tire change. Other scenarios would be if the car wound up being on such an uneven surface that it would be too dangerous to raise up my vehicle. I carry all tools that are required to change the tire for that certain vehicle as well as extra tools. When buying a new(used) vehicle, how many people actually check for tire changing tools? As well as going around to check all 4 wheels to see if you can break the lugs? If you wait until you have a flat you might find yourself not being able to change a tire because of a lug being on too tight, frozen or stripped. Also there might be a lock lug on them and guess what? The previous owner forgot to include the lock lug tool with the purchase. Yeah I hear you, call AAA and let them do it, but what if you had to wait 3 hours for them to arrive? It happens I know I used to work for them, changing tires roadside. Did it take me 3 hours to drive to them? Of course not but in the summer here in Vegas cars in the I-15 would drop like flies. Flat tires, overheating, dead batteries(at the exits) and lock outs. All piling up at the same time and put on a "wait" list. Very pissed off customers and our dispatching was ran poorly putting us in a "no win" situation with us being the face to the customers of AAA. Okay I'm done now. Oh and BTW I would use a new style jack instead of the OEM jack.

if you are on the road and get a flat tire are you using the factory jack in trunk are using a modern jack style,some say factory jacks was not to safe back in good old days or now.thoughts,complaints,ideas.thanks Not safe? Who says and why? Dad used 'em on the '47 Plymouth and '71 Valiant. I used 'em on the '53, '56, '57 Plymouths and the '72 Valiant, as well as My '65 El Camino and '73 Pontiac and '69 Ford. They work fine. My '59 Fiat 600 had similar idea: hooked at a point along the side of the body and lifted the whole side. Screw mechanism arrangement for the up an down. My '08 Corolla has a screw jack. Now there's a piece of work. Instead of standing up, ya'get to kneel down, position a little bitty scissors jack that has a too short handle, and try to keep the handle in the slot while ya' grind away raising the vehicle. Yes, I had to use it for a flat. Used to have an old Sears scissors jack that worked real good. Screwed up and left it in the '69 LTD when I rotated out of Panama. The Walmart/Harbor freight scissors jacks are are junk compared to the Sears, but I got one of them in the trunk on the Corolla now.

When I travel ( in an old car or newer makes no difference) . I have a small floor jack in a case that goes with me. And an electric Impact with the appropriate socket. AMEN to this, me too, especially on road trips, aluminum floor jack, electric impact...too easy

i like to find a used, still working aluminum race floor jack, a 3'4" piece of plywood that is a few inches larger than the jack foot print to give the jack extra support on soft surfaces, and to make sure there are no problems with electric batteries being dead, or low on charge, a 24 or 27" 1/2" drive hobo fright breaker bar with the appropriate size socket. these don't take up much space in the trunk, and will be guaranteed to be in working order if a tire needs to be changed. often times, you can pick up a piece of luggage that will be small enough to contain all the items needed CHEAP at the good will store. stores nice and also can be packed so you have NO rattles to listen to going down the road. works for me in my daily drivers, so i see no reason this setup would not work in a classic or hot rod.
