I have never bought one of their tranny's but since they can't even drill a hole in a trans shield in the right place I'd be a little worried. To make matters worse they didn't stand behind their mistake because it sat unused in the box for a number of months, and by the time I realized it and sent it back the warranty period had expired. TCI= JUNK... there are many good trans builders here on the board that would give you a better trans at a comparable price I'm sure.

i have had to repair a few, all were bought from summit and were 350 turbo's, 90% had stock type clutchs and the people were told they had reds in them.

trans in the coronet was a TCI "Competition" unit bought via Jegs. When I had it gone through, my guy found mis-matched early and late 727 parts.
I'd stay away from TCI.

I won a $300 gift certificate to TCI (NHRA be a winner be a member) And I still haven't used it because they don't make anything I or anyone else I know wants.

Go elsewhere or rebuild one yourself, its not that hard to do.

I wouldn't buy their trans or converters. You can get a nice one though tranzact, cope or trans specialist!

I bought a TCI convertor and flexplate years ago for my GTX. Those two parts didn't even match up, run far away.

I'll add to the experience. About 94 I bought one of their transmissions and as most it sat around awhile while I updated the car. The first time I took it out it would not pull the car up on the trailer after only 4 1/8 mi passes. Cost me another $200. to have someone fix their mistakes.

Yea but ATI makes a better balancer.

As far as transmissions go..Performance Automatic in Gaithersburg MD (they sell through Jegs and Summit now as well) builds a good transmission. I should know as I used to work there.

Already got an SFI approved dampner, thanks for the idea though. I'm probably just going to end up buying something and throwing it on the shelf.

I bought a race car in the early 80's that had a TCI powerglide, the seller told me to warm it up real good before putting it in reverse, he had cracked the trans case several times. Second time out I backed off the trailer and the case cracked all the way around.

I took the deep pan and the tailshaft off that trans and put the rest of it in the track dumpster. Put a stock trans with a B&M transpak in it, ran it three years and sold the car.

I AM IN THE FINISHING STAGES (I HOPE) OF GETTING MY VALIANT TOGETHER. I SPOTTED THE TCI FLEXPLATE SHIELD IN THE JEGS CATALOG FOR $95, ARE YOU SAYING THAT EVEN THIS IS GARBAGE FOR SOMETHING YOU WOULD THINK IS PRETTY BASIC? I WAS ALSO EYEING THE RCI TRANS BLANKET, ANY OPINIONS ON THAT???
