Thinking of trading in my 2008 dodge nitro for a 2018 jeep Cherokee. 2.4 engine and 4x4.

Any opinions good or bad on them ? I haven't found much searching web . Thanks.

If your large framed, the interior felt small and cramped to me....

If you get one get the 6cyl. The four won't get out of it's own way.

We love our Grand Cherokee. You might consider one of those if it fits the budget.

I second 70RTCharger's input on this...we have a 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk here...what an awesome combination of driveline tech and creature comforts...money well spent, LOL, so far at least...but I must be honest and say Mopar still shows a tad behind on the "finishing touches" on the vehicle: missaligned dual exhaust pipes/tips, door to fender alignment issues, interior trim not completely installed...small things that sure annoy ya after having caughed up that kind of $$$!!!

Just for clarification purposes, the o.p. was asking about a cherokee, not a grand cherokee, two different vehicles all together, although I will say, I got rid of my cherokee and picked up a grand cherokee for several reasons. That 4 cylinder engine has no business in those.

My 2015 Challenger R/T was at dealer for a problem for 2 weeks and they loaned us a 2017 Cherokee with the 2.4 liter engine. It was not 4 wheel drive. It got great gas mileage - about 25mpg. It was comfortable although smaller than the Challenger inside. We took it up to our cabin which is on a rough 2 mile dirt road and it did alright although we were concerned with ground clearance. Going slow, it never bottomed out. We were on the on ramp to a highway and I told my wife to floor it because of heavy traffic and she said it was, so acceleration is slow compared to the 6 cylinder we rented a couple of years ago and to our hemi. There's trade-offs. Would I buy one, probably not. As I said, the gas mileage was good but I'd check around for something else comparable and test drive it
(Ford Escape?). We try to rent vehicles for a week if possible before considering buying one. It gives us a good idea of what we're getting in to.

I work on them..... I trust them as far as I can throw them. Saw a buzz that Hyundai wants to buy the brand. I think that would be better than our current situation. 3.6 pentastar.... our line guy is constantly busy.
