Hello All,

Was wondering if anyone knew the factory weight specs for these cars (or a link to a site with them):

1970 Super Bee 440
1970 Challenger 440

Just trying to see how much heavier the B-Body was back then than the E-body.

Also, anyone know if Chrysler ever published expected mpg back then for these cars? I was googling around and saw something that said a 440-6 Bee was supposed to get 7 mpg, but this seems low (even for 1970 standards), doesn't it ?

Thanks much for any info!

well two things to consider...
1. back then weight i believe was reported without bumpers. add bumpers to it and its probably another 500 lbs heavier.
2. MPG was tested differently back then, so in trying to compare it to todays numbers is completely useless.

are you trying to build a daily driver and MPG is a concern? if so the challenger would probably be a little lighter than the charger.

Well, shipping weight for a 70 Coronet R/T was 3573.

Shipping weight for a 70 Challenger R/T was 3402.

Challenger R/T weight would have been for the standard 383, so add - what 90 lbs (?) - for a 440. So the Coronet would be around 100 lbs heavier.

Never heard of shipping w/o bumpers, but I think the cars were shipped w/o fluids. Also, the shipping weight is for standard versions w/o options. Actual curb weight would be significantly higher.

Thanks very much guys for the info!

For the weight, I was just curious since a friend has a 440 Challenger R/T and just by looks, my '70 Bee 440 seems like a much heavier car (since it's longer, I guess?). But if it's only 100 lbs difference, then it's not as much as it I would have guessed it to be.

For the mpg, I was just curious since I seem to be getting somewhat higher than the 7 mpg I found somewhere on the web (for a delivered 440-6). Not sure exactly what I'm getting due to fuel gauge and speedo problems... but I think it's closer to 10 or so?

Anyway, thanks again for the help!

ive always read the AAR cuda (fiberglass but somewhat heavy hood and aluminum intake- lighter than cast iron) weighed 3700 lbs

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

Where did you get that from?? BTW e body bumpers weigh about 25 lbs each.
