Yeah I've seen the circle track guys do that with something similar. They have some fancy hub stands for smaller cars. Here is a link for guys who are into going around corners: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/...ta/59176/page1/

Thats just me.

You jack the car up, install them, then let the jack down. No need to line up. Same way you install a tire.

Yep... same way you install jackstands. At least with those you can do rearend and brake work.
Hey...... is this a nice toy? Sure. But to Mopar guys who whine about the extra cost of a forged crank over a cast crank in a race build.... lol( and thats the truth) i am surprised so many people think this deal being discussed is a must have. To me, i would spend my money elsewhere. Nice toy, but to 99% of us we can live perfectly well without it.

I'd buy a set. I can also see putting locking casters under them, maybe an add on base so you can move the car around. Love the handles on the blocks of wood too!

I think it is a great idea, nothing I hate more than trying to do something and having a #$%^ jack stand get in the way, for example transmission or header work.

I like them too, safer than jack stands and more room under the car.

I like it.
I'd be looking at how to make them fit into a standard USPS flat-rate box, or 2 boxes.
If you're right over a weight limit, make some big holes, shipping is $$$.

Sure, no problem cutting some big holes in the part to save weight. I could probably reduce the weight by 50% and still have plenty of strength by just cutting two triangles out of the center. They could also be made from aluminum although that requires TIG welding.

How would bolting them to the rear go with a good posi or spool? Axles would have to be line up exactly the same?

Hmm that is a good point, for a spool no problem just make sure you install them the same. I have yet to see a posi good enough that you couldn't muscle them around some and line them up.

No they are not, at least as pictured. Andy said and I agree, if another car say ran into the the car, it could rotate the wheels and allow it to roll off these stands, as nothing(?) is to prevent the wheel hubs from rotating. If you mount casters to the bottom, and do not significantly extend the base ( which the small base being the original benefit to most in the first place?), having a a moving car on casters with all its mass, only needs a caster to stick on something, a crack, a 1/4" nut, cable, etc, and the car could easily roll the wheel hubs and off the stands. Likely, probably not, would some one be under a rolling car, again not likely, but the "stuck" caster should be considered, IMO.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Casters could be mounted on piece of tubing that bolted to the upright. That would be fairly easy to fabricate. I've never done that before but it might be interesting to do. If nothing else it would give me an easy way to push the car that I'm not working on out of the way.

I'm not sure on pricing. I know what people would want to pay for a pair but I'm not Harbor Freight. I build stuff by hand in low qty so it costs a lot more. Honestly, I probably can't make these things cheap enough to sell them. I got tired of people bitching about how much the motor dollies cost so I stopped making them which tells me that I probably shouldn't try making these. I do know someone who is better set up to make stuff like this so I'll pitch the idea over to him.

For that kind of work I put the tall jack stands under the front K-frame bolts to get full access under the car. Suspension just dangles though so no alignment work or suspension clearance checking that way.

would getting these pre-welding make the pricing or the shipping costs any cheaper?

Glad I got the last of the Mohicans before they went NS1.
Sometimes the best is worth a little extra.

I posted an AR motor dolly in one of the Fakebook mopar groups, just "hey check this out, what do you use? " and consensus was 1. an old tire or 2. weld up angle iron from an old bed frame 2. Steal a shopping cart and hack it up and you've got the same thing. Well allrighty then, I was definitely not going to debate those viewpoints LOL

After I got a hoist, I promised myself I wouldn't be purchasing anything else designed for working on the floor/ground.

Then I went and did some repairs at a wife's friend's house.
Guess what she gave me: A jack and a pair of jackstands.

Personally, I would like another one of your motor dollies. As a side note , what risk would you be exposing yourself to if someone injured themselves with these stands on the car. You might be held liable.
