Keeping the stock wheel openings and wheel housings. Stock width A-body 8-3/4.

Just wondering - how big of a tire will fit on a '71 Dart after installing the MP 3/4" relocating shackles?

Well on my sons 72 Dart you see here we have not moved the springs as they are in stock location and the wheelwells are all stock. We can just barely fit a 28" tall tire and they would sometimes rub in the traps at the track. He now runs a 26 x 9.5 Hoosier which fits ok in his stock wheelweel. Even with moving the springs it with the stock wheelwells I dont know if you coud go much bigger. My guess would be maybe a 27 x 10 inch tire. Hopefully someone will chime in with the springs moved in. We did not bother with it because the tires today are very good as he has G60-15 McCreary's on it in this pic but now runs the 26 x 9.5 Hoosier QTP and the car hooks great on them. Its a street car thats run 11.40's @ 117 and my 63 hooks great and runs in the 10's on a 30 x 9 inch tire. We dont plan on pushing our cars any faster then 10's and with just a decent suspension you can hook fine and run 10's on just a 9" tire. Course it dont look as cool as having an 11 or 12 inch tire under it but it is more of a sleeper look. I guess it depends on how fast you want to go as to how big a tire you need to get under her. But I think about a 27 or 28 inck tall by about 10 to 11 inch wide would be the biggest you could fit. Also if you drive the car on the street you need to have enough room so the tires dont rub to much on turns when they flex some. You can get away with a bit less room on a race only car that wont be taking many turns. Good luck , Ron

up Thank you!

I actually have an "extra" 8-3/4 3.91 S/G with B-body brakes, Moser axles, SS springs and the offset spring kit that I am pulling from my '69 Barracuda; which is getting a narrowed Dana.

Your son's Dart is running some stout street car numbers!

Comparison between a '74 Duster I had - stock location - and a '72 I now have with the 3/4" kit: both run same 275/6015 size though different brands, both on 8x15 wheels, both stock springs, though the '74 sat about 1" higher.
What I notice is that the 3/4" kit doesn't do much if anything at the front, but does tighten up the space for tailpipes in back. Sidewall clearance at the front half is fairly tight with either setup.
Tire diameter is limited by front of the wheel opening and also by inner contour of outer wheelhouse; tire width is limited by spring location.
My Duster racecar with its minitubs and springs at the framerails fits 13x31s on 15x12 rims.
Last stock Dart I had could barely fit 235/70s on 15x7 cop wheels.
