the top one has about 4 1/4" spacing - but your tape measure end isn't really lining up to anything around the hole so it's hard to tell. measure from one side of a hole, and then the same side of the other hole - like in the second picture.
the bottom one has 3 5/8th" or 3 11/16th"spacing.
Look at the old ball joint, and the mount, and see if there are a part numbers on them.

Spindle center-to-center hole spacing is 4 3/8" Lower ball joint center-to-center hole spacing is actually 3 3/4"

sounds like you got a 9" drum LBJ for an A body Cuda.

You definitely have the early A body drum ball joint.
What's the part number of the LBJ?
Take it back and get the proper ones.

is there a part number on the spindle? looks like it might be the post 1973 a-body disc brake spindle. the part numbers are 3402626 and 3402627, on the upright of the spindle. if that's the case you just need moog k781 and k783 lower ball joints. Ok - that's a big help. I'll look for the numbers when I get home. Also, I got all these pieces in a kit including the idler arm. I'm concerned now that I may have the wrong idler. Thank you !

Where did you get the kit from? Seems they mis-packaged or sold you the incorrect parts.

I've looked everywhere on the spindles and all I can find is a "32" cast into one and a "31" cast into the other. Does that denote something ?

I'll try the moog k781 and 783 and hopefully that will do it. It looks like someone knew what they were doing and thankfully they did because I do not ! Thank you!
