So admission was FREE. Had to pay $10.00 to park.
Couple of Mopars there, the new Stinky Pinky too car and that Red Demon with the Blown Hemi . Neither of those guys can drive their blower cars. Never made a clean hit all night.
Racing started at 7:30(ish) and finished around 5 AM this morning.
On second thought, I won't put who the winner was and spoil it for anyone that may want to watch the show next year. Just say it was One of the show regulars who won the race. Couple of blown pro mod cars in the field too.
The place was packed. Standing room only and they shut the gates about 9 or so with a long line of cars still trying to get in.
The bad part was no spectators allowed in the pits. Guess it would have been a nightmare for Discovery to film it with what seemed like about 80,000 people milling around.
NHRA just wishes they had that kind of following.

I hope NHRA is paying attention - people want the story - they want to cheer for their favorite driver - they want racing the way it used to be - A big show! 80,000 people - figure an average of three per car is roughly $270,000 at the gate - add the food sales and t-shirts - its a half a million night for the track! - easy to see its a win win for everybody

Dean can drive a blown car, the challenger has not had many runs since it was finished, and little if any testing.

It keeps getting bigger.
I just read this week that JJ da boss will have a Memphis outlaws spinoff show. Almost to the point of being able to have new shows every week.

I hope you are right about Dean as I would absolutely love to see a MOPAR win one of these races on TV.
BUT, I have watched that Red Demon run 3 times and he is all over the track every time.
I think the reason Chief wins so much is he can go down any surface and not overpower it (most of the time) and still run some really good times.
I don't know much about power adders, but it seems the super charged cars are at a disadvantage on non prep tracks with the power coming in so early.

Chief's new Pontiac chassis which I think was originally build in the 90's, just seems to flat out work. Old chassis was good, latest car just doesn't seem to make bad passes.

These guys are making NHRA look like they have their shoelaces tied together.

LVMS is going 4-wide.

Sheesh

Why? So they can have all the remaining Pro-Stocks run simultaneously?

I was there, some good racing for sure. Would love to see this with a 50/60 car field with out all the TV b/s delaying rounds. Yes NHAR needs to wake up. Looked like there was more people there than for the NHRA June event.

Glad to see they filled the place up, but at $10 a car load not surprising.

This is a completely different economic model than what NHRA works under, may be comparing apples to oranges. That being said NHRA has had turn away crowds at a few races this year.

Does NHRA need to work to increase crowds at many events, absolutely. But at a time when they desperately need to increase pro and sportsman purses letting folks in for $10 a car load may not be the way to do it.

My $0.02

Bill

My feelings too, NHRA is not going to give up the $200 spectator gate fees. People want simple, everyone gets it racing, hate to say it but NHRA racing is to complicated for 90% of the spectators. To hard to lay a bet. A lot of money changing hands from the "fans" at these outlaw races.
