Been thinking about how return oil flows in a gen 3 (or gen 3.1 VVT hemi anyhow).
So it seems most of the oil going to the heads is going to end up in the drains going down the outside of the block and directly into the pan bypassing dropping through the spinning crank but the cam and lifter oil is still going to go down on the crank... could a guy just install plates under the cam/above the crank to catch all the oil and let it go out through the holes next to the front of the cam (may need enlarged a little)draining into the timing cover? Seems this would further help oil from landing on the crank costing HP and adding air to the oil. This should also help provide some more lube to the supposedly weak timing chain. Any thoughts on this?
Another thing I thought about was useing rightstuff to seal the little gap on the edge of the windage tray so no oil from the drainbacks can make it on top of the tray and get pulled back up on the rotating crank.
While we are at it are there any other mods that might help things live longer or make a little extra HP?

I hate the milodan pan that doesnt have notches in it.
Dave Barton asked me if I wanted oil restricted to the lifters. I said sure and asked how he goes about doing that. He said he wouldnt tell me

Super easy to restrict oil to the lifter body but it is ugly. I am having a part made to do it even easier and cleaner and neater looking. You will have control to easily decide how much if any you want going to them. There is still going to be oil on the lifters because of seeping past cam bearings and some coming from the rockers and whatever comes down through the pushrods to pump up the lifters so they wont run dry being completly blocked off.
Right now I am just trying to figure out a good way to finish what the factory started in controling oil whipping around the crank on its way back to the pan, maybe that is not even worth the effort at this point.

Why would you want to restrict oil to the lifters? Keeps more of it for the mains? That's one reason. On the lifters, one old school trick will work nicely, Slide a copper tube in the passage way peen it down where the lifter rides. This weekend I'll post a photo of what I talking about. The kid who works for me, filled the window above the lifters to stop drain back over the crank. He did a few other things to the block, I will talk to him tomorrow and find out what else he has done.

Oil drain back, there's a bottleneck were the cylinder side joins the bottom section, 1st pic is stock, 2 and is where I take 1/2 drill round off the intersection from the pan side.
