Anyone make a motor plate to put a Gen 3 in a 71 Dart? How does the Gen 3 compare to a small block as far as over all length?

My project is using a AEI plate, with a remote water pump.

Same thing I used.

Bore Spacing is identical small block to G3. Length is basically a wash depending on what timing cover and accessories you're using on the front.

Ok, just tossing it around and was wondering if my tabs for my current motor plate would work. Trying to figure stuff out before it goes to the body shop.

AEI here as well. He can modify the outer dimensions if you need, hes easy to work with, did a few custom things I asked for on mine.

Curious what version of the timing covers are y'all using with this plate?

I'm thinking any one will do and I can slice and dice all the of the OE mounting points on top to clean up the appearance.

Is that a Bob's Profab front end? If it is, does it look like the oil pan and everything will clear the k-member? Can you guys tell me the benefits of having the water inlet and outlet as an fittings vs a waterpump? And what sizes of fittings to go with? The Gen 3 is a whole new bag of questions for me, lol. Quickrunner, do you know what the measurement from the back of your motor plate to the back of your block is?

It is a truck timing cover that AEI will mill some of the extra non needed stuff off of. He did mine with a core charge I got back.

Yes it is a Bobs front end, I went with a custom pan from Charlies. I chose to go remote water pump route so I could route hoses out of the way of whatever belt drive system for supercharger I decide to go with. I don't know measurement but could get it this week. I set it up with a 727 core bolted to the block on stock trans mount then got it where I wanted it and fabed the tabs for the motorplate to the frame rail. Then ditched the 727 and made new trans crosmember for the Ried case th400.

AEI has a option to run a BB chevy electric pump with their plate as well. It's that or remote pump with their plate.

Quickrunner, that would be great if you could measure that for me. What are the benefits of running the truck front cover? What size fittings do you guys run in the motorplate for the water pump? Is bigger better?

The AEI plate is designed for the truck timing cover. The truck cover has the accessory mounts high, and the lower part is smaller. You just cut or mill off the high mounts.

I am doing 3/4npt in and a T-stat out in the plate with a Meziere remote pump. I think most guys do the Chevy pump option

I like the remote water pump idea. If I do one it'll be Procharged and it'll be nice to have the water pump out of the way.
