Hey guys, wiring is definitely not my thing and I was looking for a solid diagram for the proper wiring of a trunk mounted battery using a 1 wire GM 140 amp alternator on a mopar STREET car. I have read tons of posts and seen many diagrams when googling but there always seems to be some debate of whether or not any particular way is 'good' and many of the posts were geared towards making it NHRA compliant.

I'll be using a lot of accessories (electric fans, Fitech, MSD) and I'm also not so concerned with passing NHRA tech. I just want it to be safe on the street and not drain the battery when parked.

If anyone has a good diagram for this application, or can explain what they used on a similar setup I would greatly appreciate it!

Run the wire from the alternator straight back to the positive post on the battery...or on that side of your master disconnect switch.

If I was not concerned with NHRA tech AND/OR did not use a rear mounted master switch with a rear mounted battery, I would simply hook the power lead from the alternator to a battery positive lug or junction in the engine compartment, most likely at the starter relay if the wiring is mostly OEM. Many racers did this for years (including me) because it was easy, until NHRA decided to start checking and enforcing the "stop all electric functions" part of the rule pertaining to master switches.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Just use a dual (4 terminal) cutoff switch like the Moroso 74102
