What should a guy expect out of a 360/380 crate engine in your standard race prepped A body?
3300# 68 Barracuda Low gear 904 4400 Ultimate converter 4.30's in a 8 3/4 28x9 Radial slick
11.80? 12.20?

Ask Ron Silva..His old Valiant gets with it and has a crate 360 I think the Barracuda has a fair amount of removable ballast

Most of that ballast is in the drivers seat lol. I already emptied the weight box and its lightened up as the Stock Eliminator rules allow. I dont think this 360 will appreciate the 4.88 gears so we're swapping gears to something more bracket friendly at the moment.

Looking at this> http://www.hotrod.com/articles/mopp-0303-360-crate-engine-buildup/these motors seem good for 400hp with a 750 carb with a tune which would put that 3300 Cuda to 11.77@114 with a 6200ish trap rpm with slip which is starting to get a bit strong for where that motor makes power to so either a 29" tyre or 4.10's to bring the trap rpm back down would help. I would only be guessing at hp levels with T-porting, 1.7 rockers .532/545" lift but a guess would be in the 450hp range which in a 3100lb Duster would put you in at something like this with a 30" tyre? and 4.88's?> 60 Foot E.T. : 1.54 1/8 Mile E.T. : 6.99 1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 97.20 1/4 Mile E.T. : 11.08 1/4 Mile Trap Speed : 121 1/4 Mile Trap RPM : 6,613+...or 6,179+ with 4.56

I think I'll stay eight mile, with the 5.12s and 9x30s radials

Well I'll share some results since we finally got it out this weekend.
68 Cuda 3140# with driver 4.56 gears 30x9 radial 2.45 low 904 4400 ultimate converter
11.28@116 (in full disclosure this is based on run where the driver lifted at 1000' so we're estimating based on other runs)
We're having an issues with it breaking up down track and we're kinda thinking the valve springs are suspect. This thing has some sort of a camshaft in it so it likely needs added pressure. Gonna check those and probably upgrade and give it another try in a few weeks.

1.53 4.55 330 7.12 @ 94 mph
Doing this by memory since I don't have the slip in front of me.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

So those numbers are with a MP crate 360/380? Yep, with a cam change. No clue what the new cam specs are, it was done by the previous owner who has passed away.

The Sloane #s come as the result of a lot of R&D.Trick beehives I do believe. Change the springs to a double. Sloane motors are well over 7200 at the traps. No need to go there. That's a 11.20-11.50 combo depending on the weather. That's very respectable, dependable and repeatable. This is just a temporary engine until the stock legal engine is done. We will be changing springs though.
