Is there supposed to be a spring holding the kickdown linkage slot against the peg/stud on the carb linkage? Or does it "float" back and forth on the peg/stud? Got one running this past weekend that has been on jackstands for 16 years. Adjusted the kickdown per the Chilton manual and I'm thinking it's waaaay too long now. Doesn't shift into 3rd until way past 50mph, LOL. In researching adjustements, etc., (I haven't had a 727 in a car in over 26 years), I found some vehicles have a spring holding the kickdown slot against the peg/stud on the carb linkage. Don't know if this vehicle is supposed to have one or not.

Suppose to have a spring.

Just a light, or sort of light spring? I've got a fairly good idea on what it should be per google images, etc.
