Can I get a trans go shift kit and only install the portion of the kit that allows you to "grab low at any speed"?

....... My issue is that I have an old mopar performance shift kit that was put in the transmission about 15 years ago...and it is the type that replaces the seperator plate in the valve body etc. , so I wouldn't be starting with a stock valve body and don't wanna risk installing the full trans go kit hoping it would work well with the mopar performance kit already installed.

the only real issue i have with the transmission is that it won't grab low above 1400-1500 rpm, anything slightly above 1500(sometimes even slightly lower) and it'll hydraulically lock me out of 1st gear and only grab 2nd....this drives me nuts because most of the speed limits around here put me at about 1600-1700 rpm(at 40mph) so all I want to get a trans go for is to get the grab low at any speed feature...so, it would definitely be nice to be able to just install that part of the kit

thanx in advance, hopefully somebody knows cause for that feature alone, it'd be worth dropping 70 bucks on a kit smile

Not my favorite modification, have the bent valves from over-reving the engine.

The mod just used a plate with a slot in it, and you grind/modify the 1-2 Governor plug. I think I have an extra plate/screws I could mail you.

The so-called "Shift Command" is probably the dumbest modification ever made to a TF (keeps the trans repair shops in business) but, if you want it, the TF-2 kit will probably coexist with the previous mods.

John is that "shift command" alteration a part of the MP shift kit? So I can make a note to avoid that mod if I (ever) run into that situation.

Hey, thank you so much....if you have that lying around, I'll graciously accept your offer smile let me know, and if you find it, I'll pm you my address details and discuss it further...

...I'm not so worried about accidentally grabbing low from too high a speed and over reving if I do this modification, I'm pretty disciplined

FYI, there about a gazillion different separator plates and in most cases they don't interchange.

No, it's an option in the Transgo kit.

Looking at the mod, I wonder if a re-designed 1-2 governor plug could be made to raise the speed of the first gear lockout?

The very first TF-2 kits that included this mod provided a redesigned 1-2 governor plug, one for pre-71 and another for '71+....I guess they wanted to save money so they included the block-off plate and instructions to grind the existing valve.
