Been having a lot of fun wrenching on the Chally again, and I'm thinking about doing some cutting to the tunnel. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had a GV unit put in and in order for it to fit without cutting the tunnel, they notched the cross member and re-drilled the mounting hole. It's about an inch lower than stock, which is fine except that I've only got about 3-1/2 inches of clearance from the ground to the collectors. Yes, I could raise the front of the car, but I like the stance and I'm considering cutting the tunnel to get the GV unit up higher. I think if I get back in the original mount hole, I'd pick up at least an inch of ground clearance, maybe more. Just wondering if anyone's done it, and wondering how much I could raise the hump and still use the console. Hmmm, just had a thought. What if I raised the entire hump, and not just where I need it. I could raise the console up a couple inches, and make it more prominent. That might be cool...

I would suggest verifying the driveline angles are good before I moved anything.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

I thought the whole point of the GV was that it didn't require any mods to tunnel?
I'd double check the installation and the driveline angles.

It fits good, and I wouldn't say it has to have mods to the tunnel to work properly, but mods would allow it to fit better and gain me some ground clearance. I thought the installers did a very quality job, I just didn't realize at the time that it cost me some GC.
As far as driveline angles go, I don't have any funky vibrations, but I did have to play with the rear a bit initially. I did all that years ago when it was first installed, but I don't remember how much angle is in there. It's not much (I don't think), as the fat part of the shim is about 1/4 inch.
I just went and looked at what it would take, and it would be some work. maybe I'll put it on the "when I'm retired" list.
