Planning on putting new wheels/tires on my 71 GTX. Ordered AR-TTO wheels in 15x7's. Currently G60-14 poly's on mag-500's.

What is the best tire size to fill all the wheel wells? My thoughts were 245x60's on front, 255's on rear.

But what about a 70 series? Then which tire combo?

stock '71 GTX w/15x7.0" wheels would've been G60-15s (approx. 245/60/15)

could definitely use more tire in the rear! drive

You could do 255/70R15's out back. I have 275/60R15's in the back on mine on 15x7 rims.

I'd really like to put G's and L's Poly's on there. But $$?? vs radials is an issue.

I guess the question is, how big on the rear for a 15X7? My understanding, a 15x8.5 is pretty tight. The TTO's, I was hoping for a 15x8, but they only offer a 15x8.5. I didn't want to worry about clearance on the wheel lip, nor did I want to have to much tire on the 15x7's (i.e. 275/60's).

RJS, those G's and L's look awesome! Are they all 15x7's?

Thanks, yes on 15x7 front and back. 15x8 would be better but I can't stomach the trim ring gap it would have.
These cars will take a 15x10 with 5.5 B.S.. My buddy had Billet Specialties on it before the restore.

I'm liking Poly L/G's more and more. Would look cool on the vintage TTO's.

check the backspacing on those 15x8.5" - IIRC they are only 3.5" - big tire's going to hit the wheel lip w/o air shocks blush

6bblgt, yes, thats why I stuck with 15x7s. The backspacing is kinda short.

However, I did pick up a freshly restored and powder coated 1970 Ebody rear assembly with 391's, and I was wondering if a swapping the rear would be a direct fit, and give more clearance. But, I'd prefer just to go with just slightly larger than G60s.
