Anybody else purchase reproduction marker light lenses that aren't threaded for the mounting screws? I bought a pair of 1970 Coronet/Charger lenses off eBay that look real nice. The screw holes are there but no threads. I've contemplated tapping them but I don't want to crack them. Never tapped plastic before.

Your thoughts?

Probably were self tapping screws, really coarse threads

if you drill a small hole
it should just self thread into the plastic i would think?
just make sure the hole isn't too small to help avoid cracking..

The holes are molded in. No drilling needed unless I try to tap them. The original screws have a pointed tip that looks like self tapping but the threads are very shallow and fine.

They used self threading screws,go very slow when installing.Real easy to crack the lens.

That's how the NOS set I used on my Charger were. No threads in the hole. So I guess repos went same route.
