Both of mine have the LD340 cast into them. Have seen them with The Chryler numbers and the LD340 castings but never numbers like D340B and have never seen any record of those numbers. The LD340 as far as I know were never used in NASCAR. LA engines were not used as far as I know. They used the LD series for some stock sanctioned classes of racing where part numbers had to be the same as the car company. There was however a DP4B and CH4B the DP was teh BB version and the CH was the RB version.
Sorry. I didn't mean it was..just going of info...
What I did notice however, was that many of the parts listed for the NASCAR type of buildup had non P numbers. Apparantly, Mopar changed to the P number format in that timeframe. I think you could make the case that at that time, it was an option type of part from the factory. It has a true Chrysler part number on it, even without the P in front of it.:king:

I always heard they were the same except the port exit thing but when I had them next to each other they were definately different in the way the runners curve and plenums were a little different as well as the way the runners leave the plenum. The everage length of the runners was a little longer in the LD4B. It is still a very nice intake and I am running one on my high MPG 318 and it pulls hard right up to 5000. I will be putting on some magnum heads in the near future and the LD4b ports match the magnums almost perfectly.
I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

The runners are different in the fact that they are reversed this would change the curvature, but they have teh same height and very close to the same plenum size considering the runner reversal. All things considered they are a very good running manifold - even used on 340/360 heads with out matching ports they work very well. Vast improvement over using a regular standard Performer. In fact no comparison.
