Hello All
I will be going with an A833 and I need some assistance for installing a pilot bearing in my 440 crank (FC66907.1). I went to install the pilot bearing and it inserted into the crank register by hand when it should install tighter with either a puller or tapped in with socket/hammer. Since the bearing is a bit loose (OD of bearing is 1.817", crank register is close to that), I'm wondering if my only option is to use a pilot bushing? The input shaft on my transmission measures 0.747" but the available pilot bushing (RAM BU286) looks to have a 0.754" OD, which may be too tight? If I use this bushing, does the ID need to be machined down? Any suggestions on how to proceed?
The crank pilot hole depth is 1.87" and the input shaft length from the trans housing face is about 8.38".Does shaft need to be shortened?
Thanks Chris

To use the original pilot bushing the crank bore must be .9375", most automatic cranks are only pilot bored to .915" and not reamed to final size. The original bushing is .940" OD but there are undersized bushings available for cranks that aren't finish reamed. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Undersize-Pi...0-/261638021109

I need to measure the pilot hole more accurately to see which bushing to go with.

Another alternative is to "tattoo" the FC bearing i.e. use a center punch and punch all around the periphery of the bearing to expand it; it should then fit tightly in the crank register.

That's an interesting trick, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
