Came across a deal for these- one head from Amazon, one from ebay. both new bare castings. Now ebay seller has backed out and said it is not available and refunded my money. I have read that this head is actually just an EQ head Mopar is buying and reselling. Anyone know if this is the case? I am trying to figure out how to get a set out without having to spend $500 with Jegs for one single head. Thanks for any help.

IIRC MP at one time had their own head but as it ran out they started reselling EQ heads.

I am going to duck right after I post this, but I think you should be looking at Speedmaster (ProComp) aluminum heads. Or get with Todd Marsh Sasquatch and find out about his baby Sidewinders. The EQ heads are really good but I can't see paying aluminum head prices for iron heads. Maybe I'm just blinded by the shiny aluminum!

I would agree with you Dogdays, but I only paid $120 for the one head that is on the way. If I can find another bare casting for not much more, I will come out way ahead as I already have some decent valves and springs to use.

The original magnum r/t heads p5007140 and 71, etc, were proprietary MP parts.

The P515-series are called "magnum r/t" in the marketing materials, however they are 100% an enginequest head which Chrysler has not done anything to at all. I don't even think the packaging is different. Note, my information is from 2013.

I didn't agree with that decision but that was two jobs ago, and at the time the powers that be weren't having it any other way.

You might locate/call an Eric Haugland of Las Vegas an importer of them. He gave me a good deal on a pair & I bought mine bare. I don't have his # offhand. EDIT circle burners are kicking a$$ & taking names with those heads, Mopar & chebby, many good reports on em.

The EQ heads flow better out of the box than the RT's, no cracking issues like the other Magnums and less expensive.

EngineQuest (EQ) is the engine parts division of A&A Midwest.

Here's where you have to be careful. There are at least three replacement cast iron heads for Mag engines. The good ones are poured and machined in New Zealand. Check Alibaba.com to see the other manufacturers. So when you purchase the heads online it is imperative especially as there is little difference externally.

The MSRP for a bare EQ head is $349.99 each, shipped. If they are built for Mag engines they will probably use valves with 8mm stems. I don't think you are going to get a new set for less than $1200. That's pretty close to aluminum.

It is easy to pick out a real EQ they are flat on the end instead of a bunch of bossess sticking out. Also if you have them in your hand the casting texture is way nicer on the EQ than the chinese crap and the ports are much bigger and smoother, the chinese ones have very rough ports that are noticably smaller than a stock one.

This guy is local to me. I bought a replacement from him a couple of years ago. Good service and good quality part. Mine are 2.02 intake valves.I am sure he would well them any way you want them.
